Who's going to the Brooklyn Bike Jumble? Sun May 31st

I'm going and bringing a bunch of my hand polished components. If anybody has any requests for stuff they're looking for, I can bring what I've got. Keep the items you request on the smaller side though, looks like I'm subwaying it.

I thought everybody knew. Come to think of it, I haven't seen much in the way of pre-promotion. Then again, maybe that'll make it more interesting for those of us who do show.....

I'm going but looking more for flip-materials. Decent pedals, saddles and clincher rims. I've also got some parts in the drawers if anyone is looking to trade stuff. My hopes for the event are pretty low though, as most flea-markets in the city are pretty marked-up.

Hello, I'm putting on the event.

The Jumble will go from 10Am to 2pm. Vendors will include VIA bicycles, Milano Sport, Taliah Lempert, Billy Rounds and Sam Fitzsimmons. Serious, no joke bike swap dudes. There will also be a photobooth where you can have professional photos taken of your steed. There will also be a classic bike concours, judged by none other than the extremely talented Jamie Swan. Johnny Coast will be there showing off his beautiful bikes. All in all, this should be a fun and remarkable day in the sun.

I'm still looking for bands, if you know any, please email me through our website: www.nybikejumble.com

Thanks!

Please, no bands! -- I hate music blaring while I'm trying to decide whether to part with my money or not; and generally it's the signal that I should keep my wallet in my pocket.

I probably wont be bringing rims, subway and all but I do have some NOS 32h Campagnolo Omega Aero's in anodized black. Pedals: I've got a set of Superbe track pedals that are in a mirrored, perfect shine. Saddles. What exactly are you looking for? I've got a Brooks B17 titanium and a couple of Brooks Professional's. I have others as well, but probably won't be bringing everything..

Whoa - Superbe track - nice. Had I not found Cyclones for my Suntour Nishiki, I'd make an offer. For the flips though I'm looking for solid but not impressive stuff. Beat-up Turbo saddles, the SR pedals that are tasteful rip-offs of the classics, y'know - stuff that won't make it hard to give up the bike once it's built!

I am looking for a white Regal for my own purposes, but that doesn't seem to be a commonly traded item. I guess that's a good sign for its performane, huh.

+1 CW, if I wanted live music while I looked at bike parts, I'd go to a street fair in Williamsburg/Greenpoint.

A preview of some of the stuff I'm bringing. Hoping to trade for a uber-cool 60's French frame, or bike.

I'd go just to get a decent knish. If there's some bike parts there, that's good too.

I went, and took only $45 plus a strange miscellany of stuff I've wanted to cull:
90s Time Sprint shoes, 44, ridden once, with the bronze cleats never installed
Red Time Sprint pedals to match shoes, never mounted
Sansin tandem rear hub with Suntour freehub and 3 cassettes
Dura-Ace 7700 crankset with BB
Cottered steel crankset from a 60s bike, with original BB (but I think that's fairly worn)
Simplex SX-810 RD

I sold only the RD, bought a Sugino Mighty webbed 48T chainring, used only a little bit, and a Mavic Module-E rim. Like an idiot (my mind was on other things as I was leaving) I forgot to take the rim with me. So somebody got a decent door prize -- use it in health!

There were a lot of bikes to see there. A 1952 Dick Power won "Best NY bike" and it was impressive. Near where I hung out there was parked an early 60s Cinelli with old graphics. Also saw a large-ish Jack Taylor frame with canti posts for sale; asking price $400.

Much of the stuff had asking prices that were not realistic, in my opinion; not unlike NYC CraigsList. Cinelli 1R with 40 cm Giro bar and dirty suede sewn wrap $100; decent Italian leather saddle (didn't recognize the brand), same. 73 Paramount track frame $500. The stuff was not flying off the tables, so far as I could tell. But people seemed to be having a good time.

Was a pleasure to actually meet you Charles. Sorry I didn't have a ton of time to talk.

Just got back from a productive time at the show and did see stuff that tempted (an XTR RD near mint for $25!), even though I really couldn't leave my area out of eye-shot.

My stuff seemed to have caused quite a stir and I'm very pleased that people were moved enough to utter 'OMG!' many times. People seemed in good spirits and very happy to meet, talk shop and buy a thing or two.

I should've worn a 'Jebensch' nametag. Dang. I bought a BMX freewheel for a SS build from the guy with the pretty Paramount track. He was nice. I think his name was Molteni...

DannyG - I didn't see any highly polished Superbe goodies...maybe I wasn't there at the right time.

CW - you weren't talking to a young guy about the CLB calipers you just pulled off a bike, were you? If so, that guy was me.

It was fun to see people out having a good time. There were some pretty bikes, some silly prices (75 bucks for a rusty rusty set of Gran Sport pedals), and I got to run into a buddy I hadn't seen in a while. Pretty fun overall. I'm thankful to whomever put the deposit down on the 61cm Mercian before I got there. I can't afford it.
