Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah, okay. That was my original interpretation. And I'm pretty much stuck at 3 W/kg so I should talk.

Also, I was significantly quicker back then, when I was still young.
Back in the 90s, I regularly cruised along at 19mph. And on the 2001 TOSRV I averaged 19mph. Of course pacelines were involved there. Those days are gone.

On the subject of camber. The Veritas will make an infinitesimally steeper angle right at the business edge of the blade. Though said edge is not round.

I don't think I've ever averaged a speed like that. Maybe on the half-dozen group rides I've done, but those were a long time ago.

I actually got a follow-up email from Comcast regarding my close encounter with their van a couple weeks ago.

Their representative asked me to call and discuss. She asked again if I got a license plate or truck number. I told her I don't have that but I do have exact location and exact time. She said that's not enough for them to identify the driver. I accepted that, although I bet if the driver committed a more serious crime they could track him/her down. Whatever.

I did ask her to be sure to spread the word to drivers that they should be more careful with cyclists on the road, she she promised me she would.

Case closed.

Walked out of the office. It’s starting to sprinkle, and that earthy musky smell of petrichor is quite strong.

IKR. In the early 90s I rode from Philadelphia to the NJ shore solo. Started the computer in Camden after the slow crossing of the bridge. Stopped timing at the top of the bridge into Ocean City. Average speed was 21.1 mph. Solo. Distance was over 70 miles.

Feeling better enough to be back on top of the household. Looks like the poor boy had an issue with his ear before you rescued him.
