The weather is spoiling me for riding this week. Went to 80F yesterday and the sky was clear, save a few wispy clouds, no wind to speak of for the ride. Out and back, as usual, with no head wind to fight at all. Life is really good and the riding is fine.

Almost 80 miles yesterday, a great day except for the air quality. Everything and I mean everything is in bloom and those of you with any allegories know what that means. Check out the temps on the Garmin. https://connect.garmin.com/activity/158040971

This was the Tour de Mesa with a little added. I understand the route will be changed for this year.

With Daylight Time came the first weekly after-work club ride of year. Three of last year's newbies had me working hard to hang on.

Fog Ride: 4 riders: Temps to 80*F.
Met a 77 y/o rider,
Roy rides with an oxygen pump behind his seat. Go Roy Go.
Passed by a kid (Josh) that took our picture.
No Pie, No hot Dogs, No Fish n Chips. Hope I lost some weight today: 100 miles
Not me, but it looked so good.

What a perfect morning for a ride! Bright sun, 63*, just a light breeze. I did what I call the First Half of the Tour De Kimball's ride. Sometime in the summer we will ride to a great ice cream place called Kimball's, and this loop is the beginning & the end tied together.
It's sap season.

First of the Wednesday club rides that I host for the year. We had nine riders including a few riding with us for the first time. We kept the route close to the start while we got a feel for everyone's abilities. Nice cloud cover and a brief, very light rain kept the mid 80s temps from feeling so hot. Fun ride.

Went north to the "hilly" part of Florida for a 38 mile ride. Got to get a bit more rolling hills in before the MS 150 next month. Good ride today, but got hit with a pretty wicked headwind on the return trip to the parking lot.

Great training ride this evening, here in North East Scotland, 8deg C very little wind, clear sky and the two planets that are close together in the western sky for company, way out over the north sea the northern lights were just visible. Gorse in bloom, now I'm not complaining, but it sure is weird,it's usually cold ,wet and windy here ,well most of the time, but it's been a mild winter and a dry spring, hope it lasts.

Nine miles this evening - another amazing weather day: record-setting warmth at 80ish degrees.

The wife started "commuting by bike for 2012", Thursday she get's off early so I rode down to her dealership and then we rode over to a LBS to have "true goo" sealant put in her OEM tires, (no puncture protection). Rode to down town Colorado Springs and get a order of the "world's greatest Bread Sticks" and a shared a "Big Bopper" panio's sandwich. One nice day 70 degree, we rode in, shorts and short sleeve jersey's for the first time in 2012, it felt awesome 20 miles but lot's SMILES!

I rode with my club on the hard MTB trail today. First time in a while that I've done the full lap and took on the steep switchback descent. Toughest 5.5 miles I ever ride. Lots of steep climbs and tricky downhills. I call it The Republic of Anaerobia.

Had a great ride but the wind switched on me and I had a Southeast cross/head wind on the return. Just pedaled a bit harder and did some shifting to compensate. Still a good day for a ride, but then every day is a good day when you ride.

Heck, that's the fun stuff.
About 100 yards past the descent in the video is the real rock garden section of this trail. I'll wait until I have video of a clean run through it to upload. I managed to get through the hard part but then got a wheel out of place on some smaller rocks and had to put a foot down and stop (no fall). Frustrating!

Sounds like a great ride. I was in Glasgow in early December during an ice/snow/gale storm. It was nearly impossible to get around. My wife and I walked/slid to one of the big Pantos and there were only a couple of dozen folks there. It was a source of many improvised jokes by the cast.
Although Scotland is tiny by comparison with say Texas,it's climate is very different in the north east, from the south west,we have a fairly big mountain range to the south and west, and a cold sea to the north and east, the result is a colder drier climate than Glasgow, the prevailing rain bearing westerly wind tends to drop it's rain on the western slopes.
Glaswegians have a wicked sense of humour,I can imagine the banter.

Didn't ride yesterday in order to get some errands done that have been waiting a few days. Got in 25 miles with the Saturday morning club ride stopping for a sidewalk art show in the SOHO district and a St. Patrick's Day Festival along the River Walk in downtown Tampa.

After the gym and lifting this morning I went out for a short hill climb. It's always difficult to ride after the gym but I guess it simulates the feeling of being later in a long ride. Anyway, I took my time on the hill though my time up was similar to last time I rode this route. Riding in my summer kit in March up on the mountain is strange but I'm not complaining.

I rode three times this week, a first for 2012.
I installed my lights and hit the Cleveland Parkway after work. On Wednesday, I was a bit of a scofflaw and rode the completely empty bridle paths in the Tinkers Creek Gorge. It turned out to be very steep and tons-o-fun. Too bad a cyclist faces steep tickets if caught on these trails. I won’t press my luck doing that again.
Friday night I started at 7pm and rode until after 8. The weather was ideal, it felt like June with temperatures above 60f. I really enjoyed the night sky and empty roads.
Today was a 63 mile solo-ride. Almost all of the ride was either on the Summit County Hike & Bike or within the Cuyahoga National Park. Great cycling: stress free with little or no vehicle traffic to think about and very good scenery to enjoy. Got in a few steep climbs.
I’ll sleep well tonight!

On a beautiful Spring day, I rode into town to work the bike club's table at the St. Patrick's Day festivities at the Oconee River Greenway. It was such a nice day to ride that I took the long way home. 51 miles on the Casseroll in sandals taking it easy.

March 17, 2012 in Minnesota . . . 79 degrees and sunny. Very, Very, strange. Record Breaking in fact as it will be tomorrow. I took advantage of the weather and did a 17 mile ride today. My first long ride since the accident last August. I took spin classes all winter which helped. I have the endurance. I need to get my average speed up (even if I don't know what it really was -- no computer for that).
