Foul weather pants and jacket stay in rack pack, laptop, lunch/snacks, other items, sometimes a jacket, in the pannier.

Very comfortable and stable. It's worn well. About 8,000 miles total. I use Bontrager Race Hardcase 28mm's for tires. They seem to wear well and give good traction.

Curious about the "2 by 2" lacing on those wheels. I've read a few negative posts, one saying Trek went away from them following various issues. At least according to the 2010 Lifestyle catalog, it looks like only the 7500 still has them.

Am a clyde, 225 and I doubt I'd ever hit as low as you made it to, so that is also a kind of factor...

Trike pics

The Builder of the conversion was Geoff Booker of Trykit (.com), the machine work is immaculate, it cost
about 900 pounds,and weighs about 10 done.

We also looked at 3weilweb in Belgium, but I was a little hesitant to send the wife over to get fit, and then ship to California. These are lighter machines, and the drive train designed by Geoff Booker.

I replaced the rear wheel under warranty, cracks around the spoke holes. I attribute it to the lack of ferrules to distribute the force. The Rolf lookalikes that Trek used presumably had much higher spoke tension as a result of the low spoke count. FWIW, the replacement wheel was labeled an "SSR" rather than "Select" Selects were a 1950g wheelset; SSR's are above a kilo - may be to strengthen the rim.

Anyway, never had any other issues with the paired lacing even with the weight I was carrying then. I'd prefer a 32:3cross pattern if I had my druthers; I'm a bit old fashioned. Then my Campy Ventos on the Veloce have this "G3" pattern. Bomb proof alignment and round wise, as are the Bontragers; just a bit odd looking. I like the traditional patterns.

FWIW, if I replace the wheels (if another rim cracks, out of warranty), I'll go with something, say, from Peter White, built on a nice 135mm rear hub using Mavic Open Sports and 32:3cross lacing;.

Back in the day (1970's Colorado), I rode a Motobecane (the French one) Grand Record with a Brooks Pro saddle. It lasted longer than the frame (2004) and I've always wanted another one. I've had this one since '04, really like it. I did need to swap out the stock seatpost (used a slot type adjustment, too coarse. One slot had the nose too lose, the next one too high) for a continuous adjustment type on the angle.

Brooks is a good saddle; even if owned by Selle Italia (I think) now.

Love the C'Dale... it looks like it has put in a lot of miles.

Looks to be a 50 -52cm frame which I usually find to be on the small side with my 33 inch inseam, the saddle height seems to be enough to cause nosebleeds, and the position of the bar extensions is waaaaay out there.

This would make me think you could rock a taller frame but if you are comfortable who cares ?

Just bought a Specialized Globe Vienna 1. First bike I have owned since I was about 10 years old (29 now). Mostly will use it to get around town and then upgrade if I find I am using it a lot.

I already messed up the front derailer so I have it in my house to see if I can figure out how to tune it up.

It's SOOoOOoOO much more comfortable! The icy cold metal was hurting my hands (getting nippy here, October and all) I need to cover those puppies up.

That's looking great, Ludd. Thanks for the good views! That's going in my Hybrid file. Still haven't run into <koff!> one here in Vermont. But I'm looking.

Essential when you live in Canuckistan... I will have to tape the bar ends on my long bike tomorrow as it is really getting frosty here.

I was also considering adding / making moose mitts to make this my extreme weather setup.

Rick, are trikes dangerous? Since you lose the ability to countersteer through a turn, how do you go into a fast corner without worrying about lifting the inside rear wheel (and potentially highside off the bike)?
