Show us your Rivendell
I was looking for such a thread and didn't find one in particular. Lots of opinionated thrashing, but no such showoff thread! So I'm starting one. Today my wife bought this from my boss's wife, who has had knee and hip replacements and didn't foresee riding it again. It's a Glorius, more ornate than its descendants. It's built up with a premium smorgasborg of components.

If only I could afford an Atlantis. The OP's bike is beautiful. I have only seen one Rivendell in person and it was a woman's Atlantis. Rivendell makes some beautiful bikes for sure.

Folks who can't afford a Rivendell, can get a mass market bike from Brooklyn Bicycle Co.

Here are my two:
A Sam Hillborne with the first pair of Bosco Bars sold,
I use it for grocery runs, commuting, charity rides, club rides and credit card touring. It's hard to stay off it.
Sam's big brother, The Hunqapillar,
the all terrain, heavy duty touring bike which takes me anywhere anytime.
I'm jealous of the Glorius. If I can find a Wilbury in my size, I will be all over that thing.

Can't win! Right now the nice smooth acorn bit is hitting the frame... and there's a nice clear plastic decal keeping the paint safe. Turn it over and it's the edges of the hex and hanger and cable cap scraping the frame. The successor versions Betty Foy and Cheviot use side-pulls.

The rear brake caliper routing is interesting. Its usually a big swoop up to the seat stay, but I really like the straight line without bend- less resistance and clean look. But the bolt rub is less than ideal.

Can I join in?
I purchased this used (it looked brand spanking new, not a scratch anyplace) about two months ago and have been working to make it mine. I changed all the cables to silver, changed the tires from 40mm Schwalbe to 35mm gum Panaracers, Honjo hammered fenders, Nitto front and rear rack, Nitto mustache handlebars with yellow amber shellac, double legged kickstand, just installed the Ostrich panniers and I have a small Sackville TrunkSack for the front rack on the way.
I went on my first commute today and I am overjoyed with the difference between my CF Specialized Tarmac which I have been commuting on and my Rivendell, it's like day and night and my back thanked me for it every mile. While I still love my Tarmac for weekend fast blast rides, steel is real for me as a commuter. It may be heavier than my CF ride but it sure was fast enough for my urban commute and a whole lot more cushy.

I put them on my Riv and they work great. Also, that is some stunning lug work and I really like the color combo.

Keep an eye out, you never know. I felt the same way, that I'd never afford a Riv. But then I scored mine for $750 on my local craigslist! I've probably invested that much since in upgrades.

That's what I did also and landed the Sam Hillborne I have now, granted it was more than $750 but still a good deal. I also saw one years ago that a student was selling for a really good price on Craigslist but unfortunately it just wasn't my size.
