Schrader to Presta conversion
I would like to convert from using schrader tubes to presta tubes. I know when doing the opposite you have to drill out the rim. Is there anything I can do to convert back? Is there some sort of adapter? Thanks for the help!

I’ve never used anything, apart from, possibly, poking a smaller-than-average sized hole in the rim tape.
If you want to use a grommet or adaptor of some sort, it’ll have to go on the tubeside face of the rim to do anything good as a valve saver.

I found some rubber grommets at my hardware store that worked well in this application. They had an inner diameter of 1/4" and were designed to fit a 5/16" hole.

If you live near any smog-infested area, note that any air gap that exposes the tube to the rush of outdoor air can cause cracking and failure of the rubber tube. I see this a lot here in CA.
I like the idea of an extra layer of Velox tape at the valve hole with a well-centered hole in it to support the rubber at the base of the valve, as this is a common failure point for any Presta tube. Fortunately, Velox is normally already doubled at the hole where it overlaps!
If the hole in the tape is a tight fit on the threaded valve stem, the tube rubber will be protected from exposure to smog/ozone that would attack the rubber. A stepped nut can then be used to center the valve and present a finished appearance, but should not be heavily tightened as that would try to tear the stem from the tube.

Is there a specific reason that you want to convert to presta?
I prefer the look of presta valves and like the function of the valve. However, I found that schwalbe makes Schraeder tubes that have much nicer valves than the typical ugly rubber ones.
Aside from that, I love schwalbe tubes in general.

I sometimes just use the adapter that comes with the tubes as per post 9 many (most?) are not stepped. Sometimes I find a washer that goes under between the adapter and rim. It helps keep the tube from moving which may lead to the tube failing.

I don't know if they really do anything, but they look good.
Note, most rims are double-walled, and that nut only covers the outer wall.
