Is the sprocket I've bought correct?

Hi guys,

So before we start, I'm a complete newbie to cycling in general, let alone turbo trainers. I'm a runner and have recently got into cycling hoping to complete an Ironman next year.

I've got an Ultegra 11-28 rear sprocket on my bike, I bought a 105 11-34 sprocket for my turbo and had it fitted (they're both 11 speed). I hooked my bike up and it didn't sound great at all, shifts were clunky, and just the noise coming off the chain wasn't good. Just wondering if it's okay to just go from a 11-28 to a 11-34 without doing anything to my bike? I literally just tried it out for one minute without lube so it could have just sounded bad because of that, but wanted to make sure before I ruined anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

not sure what a turbo trainer is but maybe you need a spacer to get the cassette aligned with the RD?

Unless your rear derailleur is a long cage type, it will probably not work so well with something as big as a 11-34. You will also probably run into chain length issues when you try to shift to the cogs larger than 28T.
