Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

October Weather - very nice!! :)

Two days in October so far ... two days of 27C (81F)!!

Normally we're sitting around 15C (59F) at this time of year ... so 27C is absolutely wonderful!! July only had 2 days at or above 27C ... June had 1 day, and August had 9 days ... so I guess we're finally getting our summer now.

Pity it couldn't just stay this way until mid-December.

Oh, yes of course I've been riding.

You like to ride when it's 81? What's wrong with you! The perfect temp for me is 50-60.

ya, we were up to our butt this very week last year. I'm at 110 mi for the week, although there's a storm on its way here and it looks very like the riding will be curtailed over the weekend. What part of Canada?

I love the heat!

I'll ride in just about any conditions, but I prefer very warm/hot, sunny days.

Sounds great! Here, it's finally cooling off a little after being over 100f for a while, they say we might even get rain this weekend. We are planning a ride in the mountains, so I hope the rain holds off until late in the day.

Alberta ... it's probably a chinook bringing us these gorgeous weather conditions.

45-50 degree mornings where I am, but then it gets to be around 70 about midday. The fog makes it a helluva ride in my mornings.

They are calling it a omega formation. Even better, as Chinooks are awful windy.

Riding without armwarmers in Oct rocks.

Yeah, soooo nice!!! Managed a few road rides between school and work over the last week, and made it out to the mountains for some x/c this afternoon. Lovin' it.

So far October sucks, it even snowed a tad yesterday around noon. I tried riding after work but after 5 minutes I was dying to climb in a warm bed.

45 here this morning. First time I had to break out the long pants and long sleeve shirt. It will be 65 this afternoon but a brisk ride this morning. Feels good.

Doesn't Austraila have summer in our winter? You both can have the true endless summer !

+ 1! Just got back from Chain Lakes in Southern Alberta, bailed on work today and spent it on the bike instead.

That's my thinking for next year! I'm here in Canada till next summer ... then the plan is that I'll move to Australia in time for spring, and then summer there.

Only one more winter!!

can't say the same for seattle.. october is shaping up the way it's supposed to i guess. rain forecast for the last three days and the next.

did 3.5 hours of riding yesterday, and 2.5 hrs of that was in the rain at about 52F (night).

i don't mind rain too much, but after a few hours it gets old. plus someone stole my wool socks! i hate riding in wet cotton socks.

on the plus side, i got full fenders!
