Giro di Peninsula - Interest Thread

If we are to make the end of the month a tradition for BF NorCal'ers, then perhaps for the month of June, we can do Giro di Peninsula. I think it will go basically go to Pescadero, but will add a few more extra miles to make up for the full century.

Who's in?
sorry, not me. I could never make a 6:00 AM checkin, just not an early riser -- guess I never mentioned that one big reason I signed on without hesitation for the Memorial Day special was the 9:45 AM start time

can I put in a plug for my Club's ride the weekend before? good ride, tough ride. I'll be doing support, not riding. https://www.cherrycitycyclists.org/bob_main/bob_main.htm

Darn, I may still be in Omaha when the Giro comes around. I'll have to see if I can make it back on 6/29.
I love the Giro, it's such a great ride.

I'm not sure 'motored' is a good description... but heck, after I do next weekend's ride, then the hundred at Mile High, I might survive

I think Ill be up for this, providing there wasnt a reason that I didnt already plan it. There is no way our jerseys will be ready. Does anyone know the route for the century?

The trainer? Im doing a 30 mile recovery ride, basically flat. But Ill ride it at a higher cadence, 95 to 105 rpm. Let me know if ya hear from them.

They usually won't email the route slip ahead of time. From what I remember from last year, I believe the route basically went the same way we did, down the coast to pescadero. The difference is, they start from Bay Meadows.

I want to say Old La Honda, but cannot remember if they went straight down 84, or if they took Pescadero. Sorry trac ... I only did metric century last year. As you can tell, things have changed considerably with me ...

well, if they get back to me and say they won't send the slip, I'll see if they'll at least let me know which routes they've got goin' over skyline! ... and yes, I'd say things are a little different for ya this year

Last year it did go straight down 84. Then up Tunitas Creek and down Kings. At that point, most of the climbing was over, but there was one more additional small climb somewhere in Palo Alto en route to Los Altos -- I think it may have been part of Page Mill. Then it was back to Bay Meadows via Alameda de les Pulgas (I think) or maybe Foothill part of the way, Canada, and then Crystal Springs.

Old La Honda and Tunitas were the two major climbs. The thing I remember most -- other than the endlessness of Tunitas Creek -- were the climate changes. It was foggy, blustery, and gray in Pescadero, and in the 90s by the time we were climbing that hill in Palo Alto.
