Trek 7.7fx question

I'm thinking of buying a trek 7.7fx but it doesn't have mounting holes for a pannier rack, is there anything out there that I can use? It must be compatible with a carbon fiber frame.

thanks

You'll probably need a seatclamp with rackmount. ...or does it not have holes near the rear wheel axle?

You never could put on larger than 700c x 28's tires also, you might want to rethink this.. It's a road bike with flat bars..

thanks for the replies. Looks like i'll have to reconsider my options, whats everyone thoughts on the Specialized Sirrus Expert. Although I'll using it to commute to work, I also go touring for a week each year (wish I could do more), so that's my main reason for wanting to put a rack on it.

I'll be replacing the seat, handlebars and pedals as soon as I get the new bike.

cheers all

I still think a 7.4 Disc would satisfy your needs.....

Check out the Giant Escape City.

Or the Escape 0 and you can put racks on it.

I'm worried that if I get a bike with disc brakes they'll get damaged in transit, when I fly somewhere (when inside bike bag)

Get the Giant Escape City, it already comes with fenders and a rack.

You do know that they use discs on MTB's,right? Also, ever see those motocrossers doing jumps in the arenas? They have disc brakes, and they're definitely flying.

If it's bad enough for your disc to get warped, good chance the wheel will be knocked out of true as well. Fixing discs is as easy as tweaking it back with an adjustable wrench or Park Tool tuning fork. Retruing wheels is a little more complicated.
