What drink do you use as a thirst quencher?
I've been using Cytomax for years and I have come to realize that, unless I am doing an endurance ride, I basically only need something to quench my thirst. Water works, but a sweetened drink works even better. I have tried powdered Iced-Tea recently and it worked fine and taste great. What have you tried or use as a thirst quencher?

I drink water, although I have been known to swig down a Red Bull at a dep stop halfway through a long hot summer ride.(for those who don't know what a "dep stop" is, convenience stores in Quebec are known as depanneurs)

When I was young, Gatorade. Over the last decade or so, simply water.
Unfortunately, tea dehydrates me too much to drink when I'm sweating hard. It seems that beer has less effect on me than tea.

Water, but I add about a teaspoon of concentrated Montmorency cherry juice to a cold 16 oz bottle of San Pellergrino mineral water. Just enough sweet and sour to quench thirst but not enough sugar to do the body harm.

On my brevets, and much of the time on organized events, it's Gatorade or Powerade.
When I get home, my wife gets the Japanese Aquarius powder mix. She usually has that pre-made for me, nice and cold in the fridge. Trust me, Aquarius is far better tasting than any of the Gatorade or Powerade flavors.

For basic thirst, as in hydration, for me it's water.
If replenishing beyond that, I'll do water + electrolytes, honey, lime juice, possibly proteins to aid in recovery.

I mix equal amounts of orange juice and lemonade then add a pinch of salt. It's a good thirst quencher and contains everything I need.

I try to stay away from anything with too much sugar. I also like some unsweetened coconut water mixed between 1:2 or 1:4 with water

For rides like 30ish miles or less I'll just go straight water, unless I'm planning on hammering or going much longer distance, and might need some calorie intake. In that case one of my water bottles will have just plain water and the other one will have water and Gatorade powder. I'm out at the moment, but at Costco they had a ginormous cylinder of Gatorade powder that lasted nearly forever. If I'm planning on going much further than about 50-60 miles I'll just put the Gatorade mix in both bottles. I just don't think that for rides of 2-3 hours at a fast pace any special mixture is required. If I'm going to do a century I'll plan something more comprehensive, but even then it's more about hydration, some basic electrolyte replacement (nothing fancier than something like Gatorade), and making sure I've got calorie requirements covered.

No you didn't you need to go back and read your own post. You said as a thirst quencher. Your post says nothing about consuming DURING a ride. This could be interpreted as after an endurance ride. And some Tour teams consume beer after a stage.

Like you, I have been using Cytomax for many years and keep coming back to it. And it's what I use for short rides too - I just use less mix so it comes out more lightly flavored and thirst quenching. That being said, on any ride that I do where I'm even close to Mucky Run Road in Frankfort NY, I stop at an ice cold and absolutely pure spring that a homeowner has but a clean pipe into so it flows just off the side of the road, high enough to easily fill a bottle from I'm half convinced you could live on that water alone.

Yeah I guess it could have been clearer that I meant on the ride.

Water mainly, and gatorade for 35-plus miles depletion rides. I mix my own with powder, never as sickly strong as the packaging recommends. I tend to make it weaker the longer into the ride I get, then taper off, back to water towards the end. The notable exception is if the temperature is unusually high, and I will keep with the Gatorade until the end.
If that isn't cutting it on a very long 50-plus mile, I will try to get a Coke, which also helps to satisfy my caffeine addiction.

A friend of mine from Austria suggested half apple juice, half sparkling water.
You don't get as much sugar,it still tastes great and the sparkling water is refreshing.
