1983 Gitane Sprint
1983 Gitane Sprint(12 speed , Made in France):
Another Great find for my collection ... this one is pretty Special Because it’s almost the exact model /brand bike I rode back in the 80s while attending UW Milwaukee. Back then,I Bought and rode a 1983 Gitane Criterium ... Inspired by the dominant Pro Tour team at the time Renault/Gitane .. lead by Bernard Hinault , together with the star American Rookie, Greg Lemond.
This Gitane Sprint..I got for $200 at Craigslist . .. it was forgotten as only rediscovered by seller when they decided to clean out the storage shed they had for ages. Identical geometry,Decals , Blue Paint and Components as my 83 Gitane Criterium.. Only Difference is the Criterium had Super Vitus tubing while the sprint has Vitus 788 tapered.
Amazingly .. this 36 year old bike has all OEM parts and the Decals-and paint are all intact.❤️❤️

Beautiful Gitane. Looks to have been a Garage Queen.
I like drilled rings myself.
Is bar tape vintage ribbon, maybe over another wrap?
