I checked out a Cambium at my LBS the other day and was shocked by the weight. I guess I've been using racing saddles for so long now-- I haven't had a brooks in 30 years-- that I'd forgotten how heavy seats can be, but the C17 is a heavyweight for sure.
it's handsome and interesting, though that doesn't justify the weight and high cost for me. Maybe if I had an expensive, gorgeous, lightweight, vanity cruiser for noodling around town, the C17 would be it, in that linen color:

Beware of neglecting buyer's remorse. Often, people who pay a lot for something won't criticize it because they would look and feel stupid for buying something so expensive and stylish but not so grand. BMW owners are a good example. I glued a BMW emblem (hood ornament) I found on the road onto my head tube to fit in with my office mates who drive BMWs to work. The funny thing is, the BMW emblem was of far lesser quality than the one that fell off the 1990's Trek 1200 Aluminum.

It's a knog skink. Normally it'd attach to the seatpost or other vertical surface, which is why it's on my saddle bag strap. I also have a rear light on my backpack.

If I don't like it, I can always sell it for close to what I paid or send it back to wallbike for a full refund within 6 months, but so far I'm liking it,

I've always been intrigued by Brooks saddles but it seems I can't ride saddles without a cutout so I've never really wanted to take the chance, even through Wallbike. That does look great though.

Interesting saddle from Brooks, a departure from leather. I would like to know how it feels after 100 plus mile ride, I can ride any seat for 10 miles and think gee that's comfortable; rubber seems odd to me but who knows they may be on to something.

I have about 150 miles on mine and am mostly satisfied with it. I swapped out a VeloOrange B17 for this one. I liked the b17 more before it 'broke in', and that is the feel I get from the cambium. It's hard to explain, but the saddle feels more spongy, but more hard at the same time. The surface of it feels like you would expect, sitting on a hard rubber car tire, so it seems to find my sit bones immediately. In some cases, it feels like sandpaper depending on what shorts I wear. However, going over bumps, it's more bouncy than the leather saddle. I won't pass final judgement on it before a few hundred more miles, and maybe a century, but of the saddles I've had, so far it seems to be the best for me.

I have over 300 mile on mine, including a century ride last weekend. It's like riding a unicorn with a cotton candy saddle. OK, maybe not that, but by far then most comfortable I've had.
Weight, schmweight. I'm a bit clyde and can still lose fifty times the extra half pound on this thing. It's all good.

and in Brooklyn, locking up a nice bike on the street may be less than a good idea..
