Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another Vs. Thread: Giant Advance Defy vs Emonda SL

Anyone have any thoughts on comparing these two? I've been looking at the Defy 1 and the SL5. I gather the Giant is probably more endurance-oriented and the Emonda more aggressive, but a lot of people seem to like the Emonda just as much for an endurance ride. For $2k, the difference seems to be Ultegra on the Defy vs 105 on the SL5. But I'm not sure about how to compare the quality of carbon. I'd appreciate any wisdom from the forums.

No real difference on carbon quality. No one does it better than Giant, and Trek is excellent too.

How are you liking it? I got mine in early March and so far very happy. Comfy but stiff where it needs to be.
