Dura Ace 7410 crankset and BB options
As usual, I get a new to me bike and drive my self crazy with parts and options for my vision on how to build it.
I am looking at 7410 cranks, which as I understand take a 103 spindle length be caused of the low Q factor.
Has any one use other BB alternatives in 103 like the IRD or SKF?
or gone ahead and used a 107 length.
this is going on an 84 team Miyata. it has 7200 EX front and rear derailers and don't plan on changing those out.. The only reason I am changing the crankout is that the current one Dura Ace 7110 is 165 and I just can't make that size work and finding a replacement is basically impossible

Do you have a "newer" Campy Record or Chorus 102 to test the crank on? Just to see if it doesn't bottom out on the cups even before trying in the frame?

The correct DA 103mm bottom bracket in the correct thread (timmyT's?) is your best bet.
Token and IRD both sell a 103mm BB, lowest cost for them seems to be Amazon/eBay.
However, a 7400/01/02 crankset will probably be less expensive and easier to find a bottom bracket for. And it will visually mate better with 7200 stuff.

I haven't thought about it in years, but I first bought a Dura Ace 7410 crankset in 1996 and I could swear I paired it with a 107mm BB. If I'm correct it is the only BB it has ever known.

The aero-inspired Dura-Ace (7???) AX crankset did indeed use a 108mm bottom bracket spindle, as did the later boutique Sante 7000 crankset.
107mm worked perfectly with those for me, but for the 7410 model it should be 103mm with JIS taper.
Tange also has offered a 103mm JIS bottom bracket known to be of very high quality, but a genuine 7410 bottom bracket isn't very hard to find these days.
Few things annoy me more than a too-long bottom bracket spindle, which tends to force an earlier shift off of the large chainring to avoid excessive chainline angle.
Crappy bikes made for beginners used to consistently come with long bottom bracket spindles, intended to center the freewheel with the small chainring's chainline.

Merlin has a miche 102 jis bottom bracket for dirt cheap right now...also a titanium Italian threaded miche version for around $30.

My understanding is that 7410 is JIS. I think low profile more refers to the crank Q factor. VeloBase.com - Component: Shimano BB-7410, Dura Ace 7410

"Low profile" isn't about Q-factor (pedal stance) at all. It refers to the "hub" of the crankarm having been moved (offset) inward, allowing use with a much shorter bottom bracket spindle, thus saving weight and increasing stiffness while improving clearance to the rider's shoe and ankle.
