We've had over 6" of rain here in the last day and a half. Currently, we're under a flood warning as it continues to rain hard. I spent the day fiddling while the town flooded.

Our cycling club as joined an affiliate triathlon club, TRI-zMotion. Today they had the 2nd training event, a 4.7 mi run followed by a 1 hour pool swim. I slow drizzle made the run very comfortable, but caused the pool to me closed. :^(
The good new is that I got a friend out who wants to do a tri but has not been able to get beyond the run. While we didn't get to swim (which scares him, since he does cycle a little) at least he met several of the hardcore members.

Does shovelling the 8" of snow off the driveway count, including the 2' the snowplough left at the entrance to the street?

Every day. i just mix it up. Somedays a 20 mile ride, other days a 3 mile walk/hike or a hour in the gym with the elliptical and then some light weights for the upper body. About once a week, several hours of rock climbing. Last week, 3 little snowshoe or x-country ski sessions. Againk I do something about every day, but must mix it up or the injury/fatigue bug will take over!

Yoga class - at 6 stinkin' AM!
This is my "take it easy" day, as I do a one-our TRX class on Monday evenings, and a one-hour spinning/toning class on Tuesday mornings (also at the ungodly hour of 6 AM!)

Friday is Bowflex day.
We've had this machine for almost two years now, and my wife and I haven't missed any of our weekly workouts on it except when we are traveling.
The advantages of Bowflex are:
1. You have to make the positional adjustments as you do your "lift." One of the supposed drawbacks of typical weight machines is that you just push on a bar, and don't get the advantage of needing those stabilizing muscles.
2. The resistance increases as you execute the push or pull.
3. There's no momentum involved.
4. The machine is well-made and well-supported (and there's been no rusting, which says a lot in our humid climate).
5. You can find them pretty cheap at garage sales or on Craigslist.
The disadvantages
1. With higher resistances, the feeling is less aesthetically pleasing than lifting a free weight, or moving a bar with a traditional machine. I think this is due to advantage 2 above.
2. With high resistances, as you complete more reps, you find that you can't move as far. It makes it a little harder to quantify your reps.

I've been away from this thread too long.....
Let's see, my drop off started as Christmas was arriving (mid December), too much work, too much prepping the house & cleaning, and too much gift shopping on my days off. I only planned on taking a few weeks away from the gym, then hit it hard again right after new years.
NYE I was in NYC with a friend taking in Gov't Mule at the Beacon. Should have been a great night, but I was just beginning the bug that completely whooped my ass. New Years day as I was heading home I really felt weak and quite run down. Then I was sick as a dog for two and a half solid weeks, ugh! I was the snot machine, fever, just sick.
Well I'm back now, been hitting the gym, spin bike and my bike trainer pretty hard these last two weeks, give or take. Yesterday I was in the gym, did the following routine...
(3 or 4 sets of each)
SS1
Deadlifts
curls
SS2
Lat pull downs
tall box step ups with dumbbells
SS3
seated cable rows
calf machine raides
Then 45 minutes on the bike trainer and 5 sets of planks. Today I will be down on the spin bike doing one of my spinning videos, then probably another hour on the bike trainer. Nice to be back posting here, hope you all are having a good and healthy winter.

I did a three-hour spin class, which was pretty intense. Six sessions with six different instructors, with micro breaks of 3-5 minutes in between.
So I came home and overdosed on chocolate.

On the spin bike for an hour, rode to the spinning video Crank It Up:Interval Energy Zone. Afterwards I moved over to the bike on the trainer for another hour in the saddle.

Pretty good workout yesterday, then I ran off to work. Did the following weight workout,
(3 or 4 sets of each)
SS1
Squats
Dumbbell shoulder presses
SS2
Bench press
Shrugs
Light weight dumbbell shoulder raises
SS3
Dumbbell tricep extensions
Crunches on workout ball
Push ups
Not much time before work today but I'm heading down to do the spin bike for an hour, probably going to do the Endurance Energy Zone workout from spinning.com.
Have a good day everyone
