Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That show is awesome. The videos are funny, but all the other crap he does has me laughing out loud quite often.

Agreed, awesome show. A little gross sometimes, like last week and the trampoline compound leg fracture footage, yikes, my wife had to cover her eyes!

I saw this video before it was on the show. I can't believe he can get away with doing and saying what he does on that show. It's a riot!

I love Tosh but that D bag cyclist shouldn't have been going the wrong way. No one will be looking for you riding the wrong way. A ped jaywalking isn't quite as bad as going the wrong way on a one way.

Good no one got hurt.

Yeah, the cyclist is lucky there were no cars coming at that instint becuase he ended up in traffic after impact.

Yeah, I think the cyclist was way more at fault on this one.

The vid is funny, but this cyclist is truly an idiot and is far more in the wrong than the ped. Ignoring going the wrong way right by the cars, the ped is clearly in his path a full 30 feet before the collision.

Despite the fact that the cyclist is puttering along at 15mph tops, he fails to brake or take evasive action when there is plenty of space to come to a complete stop or swerve and avoid the ped entirely. This guy would be dead within a couple days if he tried my commute.

The cyclist displays epic levels of stupidity:

1. Cycles the wrong way in traffic
2. Films himself cycling the wrong way in traffic
3. Films himself biking right into an easily-avoidable person
4. Actually posts film of himself cycling the wrong way in traffic and biking into a pedestrian to the internet, displaying his stupidity for all to see.

If you're going to be utterly stupid enough to bike the wrong way in traffic, and are too brain dead to miss a pedestrian who you should see 50 feet or more away, don't film it, and don't post it to the internet.

It looks like he tried to swerve at the last moment, but his reaction seemed a bit slow and yes, he was still stupid and wrong for riding the wrong way in the first place.

I posted this once, and it didn't show up, so forgive me if it ends up double posting.

1) No helmet, but this is the wrong thread to discuss that.
2) Cyclist looks up to the right just before the ped steps out. That may have slowed the reaction time.
3) Cyclist only had his left hand resting on the bars. One hand only and not really a good grip. Tough to make a panic stop that way. He was holding papers in his right hand.

As long as nobody was hurt, FUNNY to watch.

This appears to have happened in Philadelphia. Jaywalking isn't illegal in Philly. Riding against traffic is.

Worse, the cyclist's riding against traffic was willful and deliberate (it wasn't accidental).

That was probably because he was holding an envelope in his right hand and had only 3 fingers of his left hand lightly on the bar. It looked like having mastered the ability to ride with no brains, he was practicing to ride with no hands as well.

Even by BF standards, the dude's a complete moron.

We were debating this here a couple of days ago- most areas have laws that only protect a pedestrian that uses a crosswalk.
But:

it's funny when fat people get knocked down

cyclist was an asshat ( and prolly riding a fixie)

I didn't get the feeling of it being staged, it all looked very plausible. I do wonder on what the camera was mounted, because it definately looks like cyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Around 8 years ago, some jackass going the wrong way drilled me as I stepped off the curb on bleecker st. I was at the intersection, but he was both going the wrong way, and also running the light (which he of course couldn't see).

Of course, he kept going.
