Where can I find some cheap tires?
Hey everyone. I'm looking to pick up a pair of tires for a good price. My cousin has this old steel Peugot hanging in his garage and the tires are in horrible shape. He's getting married in 2 months and doesn't have extra money to spend on anything, so I figured I'd buy him a few things to get his bike running. His soon to be father in law gave him the bike, and other than the tires and bar tape it's in fantastic shape. He doesn't ride it much, but his fiance said he needs to lose some weight before the wedding so I'm thinking maybe this will encourage him to get out and lose a few pounds before the big day.
I already picked up some Bontrager cork bar tape for $10 at this LBS near his house, but the cheapest road tires they had were some Specialized tires for $30 each. I thought I could find something cheaper online, but I'm not seeing anything for much less than $30.
Performance is not a concern right now. I'm just looking for the absolute cheapest road tires that will get the job done. Btw, I'd like them to be 700x25c, if possible.
Thanks!

Gonna bump this thread and say thanks for the link to the Performance brand tires. I'm pretty involved in many aspects of the bike world these days so it's been tough to keep a solid pulse on what's going on in the road world specifically. My buddy's been chomping at the bit to get a road bike so we went and picked one up from Craigslist today and I did a general service and bartape replacement this afternoon and we took it out for a first ride tonight. It's a GREAT vintage Trek and it rides soooo smooth and quiet, but it needs tires, badly, and inexpensive ones at that. I'll give the Performance tires a try, they'll do for the rest of the season.
