I know what you mean about townbikes being unhandy etc., but with the bars flipped it puts me on top of the controls and forward leaning rather than upright and reaching for the controls. It feels a little less aggressive than my road bike. I'll admit though, it took a couple rides to get used to the feel. Now I really dig it.
I like my big headlights
I ride a lot at night.

One question: do you specifically like that kind of handlebar?
In Belgium these handlebars are on traditional townbikes and I find them very unhandy, controlless and painfull for the wrists.
Love the big lights ... makes it look like a motorbike a bit.
I've also got a setup with 2 led headlights ... it's great for doing nighttime trailriding

You need to rotate your handlebars a little so the end of the grips are not higher than the rest of the grips. Flat or angled down towards the rear. That angle is wack.

Thanks guys! I know my bike isn't anything to lust over, but as my first "real" bike, I'm taking a lot of pride in it. Just put some bar ends on it as my first mod

nah, lighting is an inverse squared function. the flash light the top tube. if it had exposed the ground below/behind the bike, which is maybe 8 times farther away, the top tube would have been overexposed like 64X (or 8 f/stops).

Picked it up yesterday, replacing a Trek 7100 that I had pranged pretty severely and soldiered on with a bent frame for a year and a half.

Had major trouble deciding between the Trek 7300 and 7.5fx....so scooped them both up and this nifty rack for the garage.

Finally finished with my drop bar conversion. The only things I didn't change were the front derailleur, fork, stem, headset, and seatpost clamp. A little overboard, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
