18 mile commute time with an ebike vs normal bike

I am looking at a 18 mile commute route. Google estimate is 1:42 for regular bike, 46 minutes for car on local roads.

what would be the average expected commute time for an ebike?

I do a 17m commute via ebike and it takes me around 1hr 5minutes give or take 2 minutes due to traffic lights etc. I usually use the lowest assist setting and average 15 to 18mph.

Depends on how many stoplights there are (and how close together) how many left turns you have to make, how heavy the traffic, etc, etc.

Around here, the "speed of traffic" is right about 20mph. That is, you can go as fast as you want, but the timing and spacing of the lights means even cars are averaging around a 20mph moving speed.

Get into a more urban environment, and that speed gets lower and lower. So throwing out a blind guess, I'd guess ~15mph due to traffic and signals, so allow for perhaps 1h15m?

Then there will be the day you make every light, and get to work 25 minutes early.

Where do you live?

I think google estimates an average of 11-12mph.

My bike cruises at about 25mph, giving me an average (with stops) of about 20mph. So it takes me about 55 minutes to do 18 miles. YMMV. Took me about 20 minutes longer to pedal (going pretty fast).

That is pretty urban - fair amount of stop and go I imagine. It depends a bit on how fast your bike is (I assume its not "limited" to 15mph?) - although it should "flatten" out some of the hills. 15mph is probably a good estimate.
