Most do look to have come with the drop bars, but I did see this on the internet:

So it's not the only one.

Well, I can't be certain, but I believe they are original. If you look at the 1985 Catalog, you can see what seems to be a P9 ladies model with the upright bars. So while they don't show this exact combination, I think it may have been an option. It has the correct brake levers, so if it was done later, they did a nice job of it. But everything on this bike looks original.

I was looking at it the other day and thinking about flipping them over and wrapping them. It would give it a little bit of a drop and I think it would look cool.

Tubes and tires got here a day early. It's up and running! Just took it up and down the street a couple of times. Everything seems to work fine! I think it needs brake pads. I'm guessing the rubber is just old and hard. It stops, but not in a hurry.
But now it has a friend. At least for the time being. A mountain bike followed me home from Goodwill. Since I retired, I've been fixing and flipping old stereo gear. Looks like I can add bikes to my list. It seems to be good to go minus the seat. I'll get one on it and get it out the door before I decided I need a mountain bike AND a street bike. lol Seems reasonably okay. Not top of the line for sure, but not bad. Cable disk brakes. Aluminum frame. But that's another story for another time.

I have grips similar to these on my upright bars. They slide over the bar and cinch down with a screw into a split collar rather than being pressed on. This makes installation and removal a breeze.
