Anyone got any 1st-hand knowledge/experience of the Fazua Evation system??

There's a few mainstream, high end bikes that apparently use this tech. How good it is depends on the reviews of the models involved.

Everything that I've read was positive; lighter, lower power motor which makes sense to me since even the OEM products are too powerful (IMO) and my BBS02 is far too strong for my needs. However, obviously nothing on problems or longevity yet AFAICT. The new Bulls 35 pound eMTB with the system looks exceptional.

It's a good system. I've spent quite a bit of time on one. Very different experience from most mid-motors. Depends on what you're after from a ride experience.

Which bike were you riding and is it available in the US?

I am hoping that one of my local bike stores will let me take out a couple of bikes for comparison - Focus do a Fazua model (the Raven 2) and a Shimano model (the Bold 2). I think that 20 mins on each would be enough to decide - there are some serious hills around both stores! I am hoping that the Fazua will give me enough to make the hills enjoyable without it feeling like I don't have to try...

Part of me wonders though, whether to wait for a Fazua gravel bike. The Cairn looks like the only one at the moment but it's still at the prototype stage

It was a prototype and that's all I can say unfortunately.

But, I can say that for the most part all of these different Fazua bikes will be very similar because the systems are all the same. So it's just up to your own preference of components and geometry and tire size it can accept.

I ask because they haven't surfaced in Orange County, CA.

There is no US distribution of those systems right now so the only way is if someone imports the bike to sell or the customer imports it themselves. I think the system isn't actually certified for US import either. So you might have to wait a while.

Thanks for the information. This is what I've been waiting for since, for me and my wife, the OEM bikes are too heavy and powerful, although we still enjoy occasional outings on our BBS02's.

I just has my Focus Paralane2 for a few days but have had issues already. Have any users of the Fazua system had any issues with the following. Breakage of the battery/motor securing lock - not the key style but the simple button recessed into the downtube. Mine broke - piece of plastic inside the lock broke leaving the button loose and sticking out of the frame - luckily the motor unit stayed in place. Also has anyone experienced the motor coming on and going off rapidly when pedalling up steep hills at low cadence (feels like the clutch is engaging then disengaging). Any other tips from users who have been using the Fazua system for a while would be useful. Cheers.

They're not available in the US AFAIK yet, so no usage data. Hope they're not problematical. Supposedly there will be several brands displaying them at Sea Otter as well as a Fauza booth, so I'll know more in a couple of weeks. May try to get one to test for the local bike rag. Of interest is that Focus appears to have abandoned the US market with all of their bikes. Apparently they couldn't make penetration, although my LBS sold their e-MTB's.

2old thats a shame Focus (Derby) are abandoning the US market. They make some lovely bikes. I've only been out on my Paralane2 twice but its longest rum (60 miles and 3000+ feet of climbing) was a joy, and came home with 20% battery left. Very subtle power delivery. on steep climbs you still feel like your putting in the effort but with a gale force tailwind behind you.

Auldian; agree with you; I've heard nothing but superlatives about the Focus e-MTBs and my LBS was very complimentary about them after testing. Major problem for Focus may have been they couldn't get penetration in the "pedal" market (at least in OC, CA).
