In 1985, the tretubi model was called the Arrenacia. It was available with Shimano New 600EX for $639 US or mixed Italian (Campagnolo NR derailleurs, Ofmega Super Competition crankset, Modolo Equipe brakes) for $749 US.
The Arco (rainbow) paint scheme was developed for the American Saving-Dia-Compe-Denver Spoke team at a meeting after the Long Beach Bicycle Show. Len Pettyjohn (team manager), Brad Thorne (Dia-Compe), Doug Beeler (Denver Spoke) and Giorgio Andretta (Gita Sporting Goods) all had different opinions as to what the colour should be, so Andretta had the livery combine all the suggested colours.

Love the TI model, with a triple no less. Great for climbing I guess, but I think it would require to much thinking for me! lol. Never rode a titanium bike. One day I'll remedy that.

Just picked up this Basso about a month ago. According to the Basso certificate, it’s a 1980 Gap. Basso Panto’d seat post, stem and shifters.

Yes fresh paint, Moulton Red. I plan on new decals maybe like the ones on the green one above. I'm thinking of the yellow details with yellow Benotto tape of the day. I have some black tape also, perhaps a fancy wrap with the two. I'm going over the top on this one! I've got 8sp Dura Ace in the que. The Basso was a spray bomb beater proudly Frankensteined with various Campy, Dura Ace, and Maillard!? Hubbed wheels lol.
Currently it is on DA 9sp hubs that I built on Wienman rims with a DA 8 speed cassette, strong and light.
The Basso Gap is one of the most beautiful I've worked on definitely the best paint job, which is still waiting the right conditions for the final clear coat.

Here’s my Ascot with Columbus MS ( Multi Shape) frame, as purchased used with full 9 Sp Chorus. I don’t know if its been repainted. The lavendar is a Basso color. Nesrly every piece of the tubeset is a different shape. O
The other pics I’ve seen of Ascots show Celeste and Orange color combos. Its a little big for me so I’ll eventually look for a Gap, Coral or Lotto frame to transfer the parts to.

Ive discovered the Tange headsets always come thru in the clutch when a low stack headset is needed. Theyre clean, simple, vintage looking and super cheap.

Can anyone confirm if the Columbus decals are navy blue or dark blue on the 82' Basso Gap? Some Google image results seem blue and others dark blue.
