I found this frame on NY Craigslist, for a great price. So, I'm not sure as to what the original frame options were. Interesting to know, you've seen one with a plain downtube. Colnago wasn't nuch of a help, when I contacted them.
The pearl white finish is a respray, the original paint and decals were in terrible shape, it did however have remnants of the cursive "SLX Spiral Conic" top tube decal and SLX Conic Columbus seat tube decal, when i purchased it. (I wasnt sure if the previous owner, at some point, had stuck Conic decals on plain old SL Super.)
The downtube is tapered for sure, and the frame is very laterally stiff. I'll post the serial # when i have a chance. Maybe close to yours.

A few month's ago I bought this Colnago. 2002 I think.Just for fun and to give it a try. I am more a Steel Pinarello fan, Colnago is in my eyes often over the top, just like this one. But I do like the colours of my frame, and most of all the way it's sprayed. The carbon looks, look real to me. The combination with the wheels is great. Although I'm to heavy for this combi, I've done around 600 or 700 km with it and to be honest, I love this bike. A few weeks ago I almost sold it but I'm glad I didn't.
Are you familiar with this type or can you tell me more, please do.

Just arrived from the Netherlands. I believe 1977 or 78 Super. I plan on assembling with Campagnolo NR. My goal is to find a Pantographed Crank set, Stem, and Seatpost. May need to take some time. I currently have the NR Derailluers, Cinelli leather saddle and Ambrosio Extra Rims with Campy hubs. Any suggestions or opinions on the building up are welcomed.

My Colnago Elegant came back from a little visit to Texas today.
Friend of mine was working at a law conference in Austin over the last week and wanted a bike to take along while his new C59 was being built.
