spin bikes for zwift or similar apps?

Is it possible to get a cheap enough spin bike that works with virtual apps where you can ride against other people?

currently don't have a bike or a turbo trainer etc and was hoping i could just get a spin bike to kill 2 birds with 1 stone?

Looking froward to replies---- after seeing a Peloton bike at a 1/2 marathon, I looked into it but couldn't stomach the $39/ month cost for the content. Here's an excerpt from an email from Zwift with a list of some bikes that work with their stuff:

https://support.zwift.com/hc/en-us/a...Zwift-support-

These indoor bikes change resistance in Zwift:
  • Wattbike Atom
These indoor bikes broadcast power in Zwift, but don't change resistance:
  • Wattbike (older version)
  • CycleOps Phantom 3
  • BODY BIKE Indoor Cycle
  • Schwinn AC with MPower Echelon2 (or MPower Echelon Gray unit)
  • Schwinn Classic Cruiser
  • Stages SC3 Indoor Bike
  • RealRyder ABF8 with WattPRO1 Power Meter
  • Concept2 Bike Erg
  • Life Fitness IC8 Indoor Cycle

You won't get (m)any recommendations for a stationary indoor bike on this forum.

Pretty much everybody who posts on this site already has an outdoor bike. Given that, it's much more economical to buy a trainer and use the bike you already own. That also requires less space to store things, and is usually more comfortable because your own bike already fits you. So, for this group, it just makes perfect sense to use your own bike and get a smart trainer. If you don't already own a bike, or don't ever plan to ride outdoors, then it could make sense to get a stationary one. But that's not a situation people in this forum are in. This is why you're not getting any suggestions.

Trying to be useful beyond that, I'd say consider buying a used outdoor bike on Craigslist and a smart trainer. If you don't want to go that route, you can probably find reviews on many of those bikes on DC Rainmaker:

had a feeling it would be very expensive to get something that co-operated with a virtual app, sigh.

yeah i had no other use for an outside bike so i wanted to go the stationary option, but appears it's now difficult to go this route and would punt a dent in my pocket.
