Wish there was/were more nutrition threads
Training and Nutrition forum not doing it for me. That forum is dominated by training posts/threads. Very few nutrition threads
am visioning a forum with home made recipes, and ways to eat and snack healthier on and off the bike
studies about the impact of alcohol, trans fat, low carb, high carb, mct oils, no sugar no grain eating
maybe it's just me but I love to read about what people are eating and drinking as cyclists, and there experiences that worked or didn't work
no biggie, just thinking out loud

SPOILER ALERT--
No one really knows as much about nutrition as they think they do. Some people know what works for themselves and then try to convince other people that it must also work for them as well.
My only self-interested reason for looking at posts on the subject is to see if anything someone is doing sounds interesting to me. I try not to argue unless someone is insisting I or another person is "doing it wrong" or is giving really dangerous advice like "go on a 2 day water fast before riding a hilly century" (OK, I made that one up).

I do think it's funny that the guy with the pink donut avatar is posting this.

I do think about food and drink a lot!
just got through searching coffee threads. Was wondering if anyone's takes it with them on their rides, if so what container, temp, etc.

Too much pseudo science and not enough fact. But, that's how it goes when it comes to food and nutrition in general. Radicalism and extremes seem to dominate the conversations. I mean, who really wants to talk about moderation when the dialog can be manipulated by the extremes? (sarcasm)
Moderation is boring as a subject matter, but it always seems to be the answer in the end. The idea that there could be "food trends" or "diet trends" is pretty ridiculous at this point. Can there be a "moderation trend?" Why talk about moderation when we can stir up hysteria over the latest All-Cabbage-All-The-Time Diet? (again, sarcasm)
The information is out there. It has been for a long time. But it's kinda basic, and kinda boring, so that leaves a lot of room for drama. Frankly, I think we'd be better served with a recipe subforum. We all have to eat something, why not exchange ideas? We'll just have to figure out how to keep the vegetarians, vegans, high carb, no carb, paleos, and omnivores from bickering with each other.

I found this new energy bar that tastes really great. It's called "Snickers." It goes great with my energy drink "Pepsi."

I like a few nice breaks during a long ride. Keeps it from becoming a slog. I definitely wouldn't want to carry a thermos--too bulky.

I've been known to haul java on the velo, as well. I use a regular travel cup, with a flip-top and carry it in one of those 'everything cages' mounted to the seatpost braze-ons, so it's more or less vertical. Usually only on commutes or casual rides, though; If it's going to be a sporty or aggressive ride, I need the space to carry more water.
I drink coffee all day long; In the morning, I'll usually add enough milk so it's still hot, but not so it'll burn your mouth if you take a big sip. Afternoons, I'll often ice it.

I used to have an insulated 'beverage holder' mounted to the instrument panel on my moto. Nice having a warm cuppa on those chilly morning commutes.

I'm such a klutz that the thought of hot liquid on a bike terrifies me.

They been saying eggs are bad for you for decades. Now eggs are good for you. Turns out there was never any scientific evidence that proofed eggs were bad.
Now even some doctor starting to say even saturated fat is good for you...just not too much.
Too much refined carb...turns out is worse than too much sat fat.
It's like you don't know what you say is real science or junk science coming from food industries. Even the FDA was fooled.
I'm just going to eat the way my grandmother has been eating all her life, and she is ninty something.

Pretty much none.
Outside of vitamin C, the body actually produces all the antioxidants it needs, and if antioxidants worked the way people think they do, we'd probably be chock full of dead or damaged cells. Oxidation is a big part of how our bodies discard those.

On the other hand, you get a bit of a different sample of people responding in general than you get in a more specialized forum. It's not just a matter of clicking--I don't necessarily care about how nutrition ties into training since I don't have any real training regimen, so it might make more sense to talk to people who aren't particularly into training.

Whatever other people recommend is irrelevant, because what works for them may not work for you or others. The best thing to do is to experiment on yourself and find out what works for you...I agree with your OP post, I am also fascinated with nutrition and enjoy reading and debating and arguing about it and wish there was more threads abut it.
