Swedish brands?

There are obviously many Italian, swiss, French, German, etc brands out there, but were there any higher end Swedish brands in the 70's/80's?

Here's is a helpful concise history of bike manufacturing in Sweden from Per From ("The Father of the Swedish Bicycle Industry") to MCB (the modern iteration of Monarch): https://www.cykelhistoriska.se/historyeng.htm

I've got a line on a Crescent road bike, supposedly a pro model in decent condition. I'll know more this weekend.

There she is ! I have owned several Crescents , all 3 spds. Heavy , but super well built.

NOTE !! The ones I had used a very odd tire size. It isn't even listed on Shelton's site. Nothing is interchangerable. Schwalbe USA got some for me, though.

Great info!! I actually just found a crescent for sale locally. Going to look at it this afternoon. From the really bad pictures it doesn't look like it is lugged. Was that a lower end model? Maybe not 531? Everything else looks like the pepita though, as far as coloring and decals.

Since the merger in the 60´s MCB was running the identical bikes. The higher end bikes just differed in colours and decals. The high end bikes were called 318, 319 and 320. They all had the same Reynolds frame with different components. After c;a 1974-75 the top models were Crescents. The Monark Ultra Lyx f. i mentioned above were gas-tubing. All through the 80´s it became clear that top bikes would be labelled Crescent, whilst Monark became the "affordable" bike-boom brand.

And some frames were of italian origin. And then there was the collaboration with Merckx. But the main stock of frames between late 60´s and mid 70´s differed only in components. Most of these frames were welded by two persons in the Varberg factory.
