I think Hillary is probably too old to cycle. Oops . . . we're talking about "bicycling" aren't we?

I'm not sure but the last time around we had our choice between two cycling candidates. We picked the one who kept falling down.

The campaigns are pretty much about them parroting back at us what the polls have told them we want to hear. Consequently the campaigns don't provide any valid information to help us make an intelligent choice. If we picked the better cyclist we'd know we had a president who could do at least one thing well.

I don't think there is a cycling candidate. At least not one pandering to the cycling vote.

The most moderate candidate seems to be Ron Paul. All the rest are either extreme right or extreme left. And then there's Clinton, who should be running for the Socialist Party.

Yeah, but the question should be, how does he get home? If he feels like going for a ride when he gets home, it's a safe bet he didn't ride there.

I like Ron Paul's stance on some issues, but on others he is very scary indeed.

Concurrence. Though in that case I did not vote for the cycling candidate.

Well probably. I remember during the interview he said something about trying to get in 10miles in every day. But this isn't about politics, this about how funny they old guy looks in bike shorts.

The only candidate who has mentioned bicycling in any of their policy initiatives is Obama.

I suggest the best means to determine how bike friendly they might be would be to check out their voting record in terms of the highway budget. Each year the highway budget has a huge fight over how much cash the highway lobby gets and how it is spent. See what aspects of alternative transportation each candidate supports. Does their support of alternative transporation expenditues allow for bike path construction as an example. ? Our lobby is the "American Bicycle Association, I think it is called. Our national advocacy organization. Maybe they post results for each candidate?
Don't know if it means anything, but Recall, John Edwards was found riding in last years' Iowa Ragbai tour? He presently has no voting record to check. /
A good source of information about Congressional votes is 'congresspedia.'

The last time I was so thrilled with the choices I spent 3 years outside of the US. Not an option this time so , to quote "Candide" I will just tend to my garden. As to Hillary in Lycra as long as she is on a bike or doing her barre I can live with it.

maybe one would suggest. Ron Paul might need a mountain bike with shocks. Cause, his roads might be pot holed. Other than that, he's a great guy. In fact Gammerus' photo. the road does sort of look pot holed?

Now see, that's what happens when we allow one candidate to define his opponent.

All of the ads with Kerry windsurfing were produced by the Republicans to distract us from the truth. Kerry is actually a road bike rider who seldom falls off. Had we not been distracted from this fact maybe the whole world would be different today.

I'm not so sure. Figures don't lie but liars figure. The candidates all pelt us with facts about how their opponent voted X number of times against (name your issue). The reality is that there are so many individual clauses that bills are seldom clearly about only one thing.

This is really just another way we allow candidates to define their opponent.

Cycling isn't even on my list of priority's for a Presidential candidate. I believe more can be accomplished on a local level, concerning cycling issues.
