Cervelo at Kona

Bike count by Slowtwitch says 26% were Cervelo. Yet none of the top 10 Professional men finishers had Cervelo. The top woman did.

what did the top 10 ride? any links?

though...in many cases, aren't what the top riders ride simply a matter of sponsorship?

From slowtwitch

Cannondale, with a modest drop from 83 bikes to 75 over the past year, will suffer in '08 from not having Faris race in Kona, but it shouldn't suffer that much. The new Slice is an exceptional bike, and it will sell well because of that fact. Cannondale is also likely not to be the Ironman licensee next year, based on the rumors from several bike companies that say they've been approached about an Ironman license. Cannondale may do well by emphasizing its terrific new bike instead of leaning on a license and an athlete — that formula has been successful for Cervelo.
Cervelo didn't have any sponsored triathletes there, nor a license. Yeah...I figured. It's not that other bikes are way better than Cervelo. It's that no top athletes rode a Cervelo because Cervelo isn't giving them free stuff and paying them money. And a top athlete relies mostly on his body to win...he'll win on just about anything so he'll go with a company that gives him free stuff and pays him money.

Cervelo also has affordable frames you can slap currently owned gear on...which I might do.
