Yes it is innovative but no I would not buy it. What is innovative is the use of a curved chip-on-board LED array to increase the angle at which it is visibile. Lots of new flat COB lights out there far cheaper than the $90 price tag on this light. I always look to see if the company will reveal the battery capacity for the light and sure enough Knog does not. You can get a good idea though that it is not spectacular. A single Panasonic 3300 mAh battery that I used to power a DIY tail light using a 100 lumen COB array weighs 45.7 grams. This light weighs 59 grams. That suggests it may contain a li-polymer battery more like 1200 mAh. COB arrays are really inexpensive these days. I paid 79 cents for the 100 lumen DIY one I used.

I could take three $5, USB rechargeable, 100 lumen COB tail lights, arrange them at angles to each other and achieve the same result. The maker of these lights actually tells me that each has a 650 mAh battery inside.

@ Falchoon ; I like the look of these but the price would be the major obstacle to owning one. That said I don't think I'd buy one of these if I was looking for something that might work well in the daytime. Of course on the brightest output I might be very wrong about that but my gut tells me I'd rather use something more directional for being seen in the daytime. Other than that I think they would work excellent at night. The only downside I see to the design is that the mount is not designed to be aimed. While I know most of the light is going to be outputted very widely I still prefer to be able to aim any rear light straight back. The model that interest me the most is the . At about $45 ( 50 lumens max ) a light like that would make a nice supplement to your rear / side visibility if you already own a good directional rear light.

Of course as VT has suggested there are cheaper options that can get the job done the same way but personally I'll not shoot down the Knog's especially since I've never seen one in person and have no idea what options they offer as modes.

they are Australian , costs not as low as China may be part of it ..

Calling their bell the OI ! makes sense as Oi Oi Oi is a hardy refrain.. down Undah .....
