usage tip -

shells on these are low

cranks longer than 170 not recommended

if you are an aggressive rider who likes to pedal hard through corners you may catch a pedal...

Not a criterium bike this. But will descend well. Pedaling through corners is for the young and fearless.

shame on us!

we have been giving all of this information/advice regarding the frame and have failed to apprise velomateo that forum member Gus Salmon has available replacement Ideor Asso transfer sets should he ever wish one.

---
cycle began its incarnation as third down from the top. there was one Columbus framed model below it and two above. top model was all Campag with MAFAC brakes and second model was pretty much the same save that it came with a Verot Nr. 57 chainset.

This pattern of fixed cup worn by the subject frame is by far the most common for Italian manufactured cottered chainsets.

It has been employed by Agrati, Gnutti, Magistroni, Ofmega, OMG, Way-Assauto & others for generations.

That explains why I've never seen a fixed cup like that = I've never seen an Italian cottered crankset.

Cheers

note for lug fans -

the Agrati "AM" pattern lugset, ART. 000.8040/E/U, employed by Fratelli Torello for the fabrication of Ideor Asso cycles was used in modified form, cutouts added

forum member Munny created an extensive discussion thread on modified Agrati lugs over on the veloretrocourse forum. it mainly covers the "AM" pattern and includes closeup images of Ideor Asso machines -

Period correct Agrati | Forum Velo Retro Course

---

AFAIK the crown employed is a BOCAMA pattern -

Always thought those Milremo brand dropouts were smart.

Thank you for the link. Love the lugs and fork crown on this frame. With the fast approaching holiday, I haven’t spent any time digging in to this frame - other than what was done on this thread. I’m guessing this one may take a while to get back on the road...still assembling my Eroica ride and a family friend just gave me a 50’s Schwinn Corvette lightweight that needs a going over.

I just picked up a another bike project, and with two others in the que I don’t have time or a need for this. If anyone here has any interest in reviving this old gal, send me a PM...especially if your in SoCal. I’m willing to box it up and ship it, as long as you cover the shipping, but would prefer to pass it along by hand.

Update: Spoken for.
