Dura Ace and Sachs Maillard
I may be the last person in the peloton to know this but I've been pleasantly surprised to find a Sachs Maillard LY 97 freewheel works flawlessly with a Dura Ace 7400 7-speed index setup. RD is an RD-7402 and shifters are SL-7401. I use this is on my beater Peugeot PSN10 and the indexing is spot on. Figured I'd post it here for future internet referencing.

I think the spacing is the same across SIS- just the pull ratio on shifters and derailleurs is different for Dura Ace up until 7700.

I reckon I could be dealing with spacing issues on vintage freewheels that have been cobbled together over the years with different spacers and cogs.

Oddly, my experience has been hit or miss when mixing Shimano SIS with non-Shimano freewheels. Recently built a Shimano Light Action indexed 6-spd bike and tried using a Sachs Maillard EY x4 freewheel. Couldn't get it it to work at all. Swapped for a Suntour Winner Pro and shifted like a champ.

Sachs LY-92 freewheels used Shimano SIS spacing. My favorite 7 speed indexing freewheel ever. They shift great and last a really long time.
For 6 speed friction, I like Suntours best, but for 7 speed the ARIS freewheels are the business.
