Still on pace, but barely. The next few days will probably mess things up. Several days of rain and it’s hot enough in the garage that Zwift will be miserable.

Sorry I fell off the wagon, but it was inevitable. I knew with all the commitments I had coming up, I’d be off the bike for a while. I hope to get in a few more rides before months end, so perhaps 700 will be attainable.

Just want to say I’m so proud of everyone here for really getting after it! If we keep this up much longer this club will not need to exist.

Biking is funny....it doesn’t get any easier, distances just get greater, especially as the weight melts away!

Well, you did pass your goal of 600 miles already.

I'm glad to see more and more people on these posts. Its good to see so many people riding so much.

Strange, my weight doesn't melt away, at least my pants are too roomy now. The other day I as I was riding I was thinking that I could do this all day.

Pretty happy with that. I have a few non-cycling commitments this week so we will see where I end up.

I've been out of the loop on this for a while, and after getting a good start on commuting home from work, the Covid thing happened and I got laid off at the end of March, so I'm hoping to re-retire (I promised I'd look for a job, I didn't promise to FIND one). Then after a month of sitting around all the time eating and perhaps having a drink or two, I needed to see the doctor for something and stepped on the dreaded scale. That got me back to it, and I started riding every day and adding a mile each day. A week after seeing a different doctor for the first visit, my regular doctor had me come in, and I was expecting to get yelled at about the weight gain, but I'd lost 10 lbs. in a week and my blood pressure was reasonable, so he couldn't really complain about much. The San Diego Century was to be last weekend, but has been postponed until September, and its sister ride, Bike the Coast will be two weeks later, so I need to work back up to that kind of distance. And it would have gone OK except the result of these doctor visits is that I have to have surgery on my foot next month and that will keep me out of the saddle for somewhere around 6-8 weeks. But for May, it's my best month ever:

5/3: 10.0
5/4: 11.1
5/5: 12.2
5/6: 13.3
5/7: 14.2
5/8: 15.1
5/9: 16.1
5/11: 18.3
5/12: 19.1
5/13: 33.7
5/14: 21.2
5/15: 22.3
5/16: 23.1
5/18: 25.0
5/19: 26.9
5/20: 28.2
5/21: 30.1
5/22: 32.1
5/23: 34.1
5/25: 38.3

MTD: 444.4 miles

Once you get up to around 25 miles, adding a mile a day doesn't seem like much, so I started adding two. And I took yesterday off so today I added four. The route extension is easy, I just go a little further up Pacific Coast Highway each day, and it'll be a long time before I run out of road there.

Update 5/31. Got in a few more rides but cut one short as the area was very busy. Total 218.72km/135.91m. Not as good as April, but hopefully June won't have winter show up for a couple of weeks (nor any more crowbars fall on my head).

Hi all. I wasn't sure if I'd make it this month as winter showed back up for a while, I had some family things, and I took it easy for a few days as a crowbar fell and hit me on the back of the neck. I don't recommend it. But as of today I hit 101.34 miles/163.09km.

And I need to share this. As of this morning I weighed 233lbs and now have a BMI of 29.9. That just barely moves me from "obese" to "overweight." Two years ago I weighed in at 440.

Anyway, ride details.
5/4: 18.16km
5/6: 20.46km
5/12: 18.62km
5/13: 14.20km
5/15: 23.57km
5/18: 13.53km
5/19: 07.48km
5/22: 15.96km
5/24: 14.06km
5/25: 17.05km
5/29: 17.22km
5/30: 9.75km (Too crowded)
5/31: 28.66km

changed my goal to 125 and my next month goal will probably be 100 . I’m having to back off some until I get knees better . I’m going try to do five miles each ride , But I may have To slip a few off days in . I don’t want to damage my knees .

I tried a different bike today that’s geared lower than most of the others , going to try to spin more . My hill climbing has changed , before I could keep the momentum going and make some the hills around here in 3rd gear , today I wasn’t a third up and I was spinning in first .
I’m thinking my knees started bothering me more the faster my mile minute got . Today I averaged 9.2 , one day last week I was 10.4 . Slower might be better .

Adding 4 miles a day may not be sustainable. We'll see how I feel at mile 22 tomorrow.
