Still waiting on some parts, but the downtube shifters, chain, and brake calipers have arrived. Finally got around to mounting them on the bike and snapping some quick photos. For the downtube shifters I found a nice NOS Suntour Sprint set. Here's a photo of the shifters on their own before mounting. Hoping these can shift all the way through a 9 speed cassette, but I'll find out one way or another when the cables arrive on Saturday.



Here's them mounted on the bike. Quite happy with the fit.





Have a replacement brake adjuster bolt on the way, but here is one of the Dia Compe Royal Gran Compe calipers with new carbon pads and brake shoes.



Based on some sugguestions of obrentharris and TenGrainBread I did a test fit with the titanium American Classic seatpost as is. The only black saddle I have is an old Ideale 80 saddle, so I'm using it as a placeholder for now. I actually like the bare seatpost more than I thought I would. I may still try and snag a cheap black seatpost to compare, but I could definitely see myself keeping it as is. If anything, I may opt to paint the aluminum portion of the seatpost cradle black to tone it down slightly, but still keep the bare titanium.

As merziac suggested, I also taped off the white Grand Cru logo for a comparison. It makes a slight difference, but not sure if it's a deal-breaker for me either way. I'll see how I feel as I start to add the last few bits.

The rest of the components should be here by Monday, so will try and post the full build soon.

Nice. Did you build the wheels yourself? I've been considering buying some cheap carbon tubular rims and putting together a lightweight wheelset.

I did not, purchased them as a built wheel. Not sure how building up carbon rims compares to aluminum. Would be interesting to try someday though.

Finally got around to getting this all put together. Have some new Veloflex tubulars on the way, but otherwise this is more or less complete. Still considering an all-black seatpost and black cages, but I think it looks nice as is. Won't bore you with too many details, but since my last post I rounded out the build an ITM stem and handlebar set, and a Brooks Cambium C13 saddle. Total weight with everything comes in at a hair over 19lbs. Could probably get it closer to 18.5lbs without too much trouble, but I'm not too concerned with weight. The aesthetics were more important for me on this build. With that being said, here's a few photos of the finished product.

Normally a staunch "no fangled deep V, carbon whatever" wheel fan but they nail it on this.

Wow, I love the way this turned out. I recently bought an American Classic post in black from another BF member, but it is 27.0, and I suspect you need a 27.2.

Thanks! And yes, you are correct, this frame takes a 27.2mm seatpost. I may end up picking up a cheap black seatpost just to test it out before investing more money into finding something nicer.
