It's a power course because it's mostly flat.

Go here, check out the course maps and note the mighty power sections and all the turns you can pedal through. Regarding the run up, I'm having a hard time judging the steepness of it from the video I've seen. It certainly looks gnarly. But it's just one feature. Because you're waitlisted, you're going to be hitting it in traffic. Which means that you just have to be patient and not panic. Chances are you're going to walking it on the first lap anyway.

The elevation change isn't huge, but my recollection is that there are enough little stinger climbs (and one long drag up the backside on this year's Day 1 course) to hurt. Mostly I feel like there are typically long sections of pedaling hard.

thanks for the links. it's just hard to tell much from the course map.

thankfully they allegedly stage waitlisted riders by points.

"If you pre-reg'd on a waitlist and if you get into the race you will still be staged by your CXR points."

Uh, in that case, you are going to be lining up on the front row and you will be FINE.

As in, based on your points, you will be the second call-up. Mikey, you have a very, very good shot at winning this race, too.

Something like 1000 figure 8's through the DMV parking lot over the course of 45min. The gf fell twice reallllllllllly slowly, clipless pedals aint her friend. Thinking I'm going to hook her up with a pair of flats until she gets more comfortable.

I could put in a good word for you. For a price.

The hills and run ups are significant but last year I watched the standings change on the flats. Bring some water bottles, it can get hot and feeding may be allowed. If so it will be interesting to see where it will be allowed under the new rules.

Hour after work. Exercising for fun with a cold isnt fun, especially with the cooling air in the evenings (which is why I cut tonight short). Hoping it goes away the rest of the way here soon.

tour de phred

local 1,2 team showed up full of piss and vinegar. They took control of the last couple of miles trying to set up their new sprinter. I had one of my teammates slot in on my wheel as I sat behind them letting them do their thing. The finish is a short uphill, followed by a downhill which leaves you at a stair step finish 30 seconds from the finish. I banked on no one being able to sprint that far so I went right from there. Haven't looked at the file yet, but I had clean wheels rolling in.

3 hrs with a 2 hour tempo interval at about 230w, for a total of 180 tss. Trying to build up muscular endurance, should my legs feel like cement blocks after an interval like that?

Dusted off my tarck bike yesterday and took it for a spin.

Need to get a brake for it - riding on the road with only legs & chain as your brakes is dumb, and hard when going downhill.

Plus the gearing was a bit too steep. Gotta spin moar.

Raincross Ride and did some extra for about 180 tss. Last year, I would almost pass out during this ride, this year sitting in almost seemed like a wasted effort. One of the dudes I was riding with yelled at a driver, and it almost got ugly. I didn't say anything, but you can't really try to pass a car on a turn and then call out the 3 ft law....that's not how it works.

If that's tempo for you and you were pedaling the whole time around 1.0VI I don't think I'd consider it out of the ordinary to feel a bit wtf.

did a full nonstop 60mins @ 93% FTP (233w) with another 30mins at z2. Definitely a record for me, I don't try and sustain efforts like this as much as I should.

definitely having a crisis of saddle fit though. I don't know if it's the saddle (arione, a little more comfortable than the antares) or the brand of shorts I use (garneau, cheaper bib and standard short, got both on nashbar) just can't seem to stay comfortable for extended periods of time. in some ways I think a saddle which doesn't kick up toward the back might be good, and maybe one with a cutout. I may hop online and just order a few and try, because ultimately that's what it's gonna take

Resting heart rate this morning of 40. Did 65 miles in the wind yesterday, going out for another 50 this morning. Base (Sweetspot) starts in 1 week. I'm starting to think about goals for next year as well.

Edit: did 2.75 hours for 200 TSS. 51 miles, no structure. Time for a rest week

Yesterday was 2.75 hours at L2 for a total of 48 miles and 131 TSS. Today was WRIs, for a total of another 114 TSS. In-laws have left and my TSB is finally below -10 again!

Team Ride today....cracked epically. After doing a hard ride yesterday, I somewhat expected it. However I didn't eat enough the day before and felt a bit flat. Woke up at 3am and had to eat.

We've been riding with the Juniors team and those little firecrackers turn everything into a sprint, and climb fast since they weight as much as an iPod. Its not good for the ego, but overall its good.

Weekly totals: 19:11:33 hours, 302mi, Load: 808....on to the rest week!
