Taking track bike out for a gentle spin.
It's been a while since I've ridden a track bike anywhere. I've been itching just to putter around on this one, since I got it on Monday. I wasn't going to do it without a brake, and didn't want to strip the tape off. Ready to putter now.

looks great! I like green! Probably no comparison but I was surprised how much fun a Fix/SS is to ride. A 2010 Langster found its way into the mix a couple of years ago. A bit heavy for not having much on it.

Looks great. I tried riding fixed gear (again) this spring and quickly learned I am not a strong rider.

I am not a strong rider either these days. In my case, that's a polite understatement. I intentionally used 'gentle spin' and 'putter' so as not to mislead
. No matter, it was great fun, except the bike is too small... The posting said it was bigger, and in some of the photos on CL it looked 56ish. But we'll see. I may become one of those folks with his saddle perpetually too low. I did ride a couple of miles like this:

I did ride a couple of miles like this:Sometimes, I completely lose the ability to feel embarrassed, when I'm by myself, having fun. Does not matter who sees or silly I look. As the saddle kept creeping down, this was one of those times. I was not willing to tighten the bolt further as it is a nice, but weak Campy bolt and not aligned properly. I broke one last year by over tightening. Very tiring ride home. Who knew it was less tiring to ride fixed gear way too short, than freewheel
I might have to put an old old school bolt in there, as clunky looking as they are. I'm sure some are less so, but not what I have. Anyway, happy times.

Very cool! If you want fatter tires, 650b conversions can work pretty well on vintage track bikes. They tend to be pretty high in the bottom bracket, so dropping it a bit doesn't hurt much. This is a '71 Raleigh/Carlton Professional track w/650b x 32 Grand Bois Cypres tires:
