Storage of Smartphone

So what is the best way of getting my smartphone stored while MTB. Wrapped around with a peace of paper towel in a zip loc bag, or put it in a dry box?

If you have a frame or seat bag put it in there. If you put it in a jersey or jacket pocket make sure it zips up and buy a waterproof Otterbox. https://www.amazon.ca/Waterproof-Sho...1643413&sr=8-2

Leave it with your girlfriend (making sure to leave your other girlfriends texts open to see). That will take care of your girlfriend problems when you get back and you will have way more time to ride mountain bikes

In the CamelBack ?. You do wear a C-Back correct ?, it’s required for mt. biking.

When I’m road riding I stick it and my ID and money, ATM card in a baggie in a jersey pocket.

mountain feed bag when it's warm enough. outside pocket or in the bag itself

when it's cold, it sits in a soft case in my chest pocket & sometimes with a hand warmer banded to the outside of the case. don't ever put a hand warmer or toe warmer right up against a cell phone

How did people ever go mountain biking in the 80's and 90's without a cell phone and survive?!

Leave it in the car.

I wear pants with a lot of pockets or cargo shorts and store my phone, wallet and keys in there. I like to have my personal items on me and never leave them in a car or on a bike or anywhere else.

It's not the 80's or 90's anymore.
If you ride solo, which I do, having help within "reach" is comforting.

If you know someone with a 3D printer, you could download a handlebar phone mount from Thingiverse and ask them to print it for (basically) free. There's a ton of different mount styles on there. I typically don't carry my phone when I ride, but handlebar mounts are nice to have if you're tracking your ride and want to quickly glimpse at your distance

I have a "pouch" style that mounts to my handlebars that was meant for a motorcycle. I like it because it's completely zipped in and secure. the phone isn't falling our or getting any water on it.

I typically use my cargo pocket and worry about breaking it in a crash though it hasn't happened yet. When I start doing longer rides this summer I plan to get another top tube bag that holds it and snacks.

For those who say leave it home. Guy riding local broke his back while riding a particularly difficult area. His delirious 911 phone call meant help came quickly and he can walk instead of waiting for help to find him and maybe injuring things worse.

Yes, freezer weight ziplock bag deep in my pack. Point is to get it to survive a situation where I might really need it.

That is certainly an option. Mine has a compass and tracks downloaded on it. Good to have away to reach the outside world is nice too. In the event of a 911 situation. I do a lot of solo exploration too.

If I mounted my phone on my bars, I'd need to replace it every other month.
Am I the only one who wrecks from time to time?

In the camelbak (with a ziplock if I am worried about rain) or a small camera pouch on the belt of the camelbak. In the winter I might use my jacket’s breast pocket.

i can’t imagine doing a bar mount on the MTB. I have one on the road/gravel bike And even that gets a beating sometimes. I don’t think the phone would come out, but that is a lot of shaking and shocks.
