Leg/foot amps...about Boots?
Sorry, not a cycling question.
Since my amputation I have not been able to find a high, supportive boot that my prosthesis will fit in. I had to throw away several pairs of good boots simply because I couldn't get them on one foot. I have been using some low "tennis shoe" type boots but need something higher and more supportive for another (outside cycling) activity.
I have found a couple of brands that offer boots with zippers. My past experience and pretty much every review I read indicates that the failing point will be the zipper, much faster than the boot itself will wear out. Every boot I have tried without a zipper will not open at the "tongue" enough to get my foot in, so even buying the boot lace zipper set (that I could replace) is not an option.
I had considered that with the wounded warrior and other programs out there that perhaps some of you might be aware of a boot company that would be willing to sell two different heights of boot, with the same sole?
IE, get a high boot for my good side and an ankle boot that my prosthesis will fit into for the other, but equipped with the same height sole/padding so as not to throw my gait off.
Can anyone make a suggestion short of having a custom boot made, assuming I could even find a place to do that any more?
Thanks
