If so that's a Big Red Flag: TI can be welded with a TiG unit but doing it right requires almost "clean room" conditions, really precise joint prep and welding in a zero-oxygen atmosphrere. If "cuz' cut any of those corners that weld is certainly compromised and an accident waiting to happen: buyer beware!

Wow I missed that. Definitely looks like an amateur repair weld and I would not touch that bike at any price. Also I do not think that is the original fork and the left leg appears to show some cosmetic damage.

This looks like a potential bargain: https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/b...468919822.html. I'd buy it myself if I had room for another bike.

Asking Is Easy
this is weird on many levels one being the Rear Derailleur being shifted by 1 braze on shifter on the left downtube braze on..... So is the $300 listed price only for the frame and the "make offer" request for the bike and/or the other parts like the wheels. Lastly why remove the logos off the frame of a known respected frame builder and one that would add value to the bike. yeah I would remove the logos off my bike if they were Nashbar or Performance or Airborne but NOT Serotta!
From the Seller:
"the frame had a hairline fracture at the headtube lug. It was professionally repaired.
Dan
Decals were gone when I got it 10years ago. There is a serial # on the BB looks like TI 154L00573 but i could be wrong.
Dan
The shifter is hooked up funny because i just put it back in a rideable configuration. It was my wahoo trainer for 3 years so everything was changed. I just put it back together with old parts I had in the drawer.
I used to work at a community college. The welding instructor used it for a lesson for his second year students to show them proper titanium welding.
Dan
Dan Hendrickson
The inert gas for the tig welding process has to flood both the inside and outside of the weld. It is time consuming and tricky as you say."
(I have no connection to Seller, other then this Messenger exchange, and no interest in the bicycle, as it is too small for me.)

I’m no expert on Univegas of that vintage but that looks like a great deal under the dust.
