Just watch for news then and when/if they do find him functional or not it will probably be over. Sounded like the guy got had a lot of baggage over his mama and happened to also have a lot of training to do that. Killing people isn't exactly rational, all you armchair Poirots.

I think it is just as likely that the doctor waved and smiled as they passed, making Pappas angry about the loss of his mother.

However, there are two kinds of doctors. Some are very friendly and outgoing. Others tend to have tunnel vision with the only important thing being their task at hand.

Here are a few notes about the Ohio woman and the house transaction.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/02/us/ma...use/index.html
Joseph Pappas, suspect in killing of George H.W. Bush’s doctor, has tie to Painesville family

"I called him on the 24th, and he said he had a terminal illness, and that's why he deeded (me) the house," Spencer told the paper. She said she's known Pappas for about 25 years.
One of Spencer's daughters was supposed to meet Pappas on July 30, when she visited Houston. However, Pappas texted Spencer that day to tell her he was committing suicide and gave her instructions for how to secure the house.
So, he likely the illness triggered the murder. That's why it happened when it did. And, he likely didn't plan to survive the event, although coming down to the wire, he may not have been ready for it to all be over too.

If it's true that he had a fatal illness, then that likely could very well have triggered his revenge plot. And knowing that he was going to die soon anyway, he may have hatched plans to take out the doctor he had held a grudge against while he still could, then end it all soon after. The fact that he sold his house not long before the shooting leads me to believe that the terminal illness was real. Once he sold his house, then he put his revenge plan into motion.

Of course this is all just speculation on my part.

Not sold, given away to some loose acquaintances.

No need to carry a pile of cash into the ever after.

Yes,
I assume he was hanging on every word posted... And once he had realized that BikeForums had cracked the case open, he decided that there was nothing left and decided to kill himself.

He apparently missed this topic:

I read somewhere that the house deed was executed early last year, but recorded this past July short after the murder. That would mean he planned to die more than a year ago. https://www.news-herald.com/general-n...esville-family

Maybe this explains: Does a Real Estate Deed Have to Be Filed & Recorded?

Records detail HPD's discovery of disturbing items in Joseph Pappas' home
They also found an unfinished police report, showing Pappas planned to report the bike stolen, something police said offenders do “in attempt to distance themselves from association with the vehicles in case the vehicles are identified by witnesses,” according to the court document.

A deed that is 'executed' or signed is valid but no one knows about it until it's 'recorded,' e.g., filed with the county clerk, at which time it becomes a public record.

The actual murder was captured by camera on a bus.

Acevedo says the doctor's murder was unwittingly captured by a METRO bus on July 20, and shows the precision with which Pappas, an ex-deputy constable, was able to kill the prominent doctor.

"It was one of the most chilling videos I've ever watched," Acevedo said. "That's why, when we saw the skill of that individual, we wanted to take him into custody very quickly."
METRO bus captured doctor's murder in Texas Medical Center, HPD chief says | abc13.com

The relevance to this forum: when there is a bike-vehicle accident, even if the cyclist didn't have camera, investigators can check the cameras of passing buses for evidence---although it's doubtful they would take it so seriously as in the murder case.

Okay, the killer committed suicide (as they expected) and this is really not worth continuing any further IMO.

Put the paper to bed.

Hey, even Barnaby Jones always had an "Epilogue". Aren't we, as news junkies, entitled to find out about how the (alleged) killer's family are taking all this, what was done with the bike, etc.

It could end up on on "Wild and Wacky Craigslist" thread at some point, if people keep their eyes open.

Barnaby Jones always ended with what was next on CBS, followed by your local news. It ended in 1980.

… a psychopath perpetrating an ambush in plain sight-- good to see it solved. True, true... it is sort of like being a part of a reality show but despite the voyeurism element involved, in these times a moral breakdown of the culture when laws on the books are not enforced and the idea of personal responsibility is being thrown out the window for reasons of political expediency, we need to see justice work.

And here's the kicker . . . he was an ex-cop!

I am seriously beginning to question the whole "policemen are our friends" narrative that I was raised with. I hope he tossed his badge, Dirty Harry style after the shooting. Cancel that guy's pension.

I smell a potential TV movie based on this incident, or at very least a fairly interesting documentary.
