Bikes: A steel framed 26" off road tourer from a manufacturer who thinks they are cool. Giant Anthem. Trek 720 Multiroad pub bike. 10 kids bikes all under 20". Assorted waifs and unfinished projects.

Aftermarket Rohloff Sprockets
Anybody ever come across any aftermarket Rohloff Splined Sprockets? Google is not being helpful. I'm a bit over the softness of the OEM ones. 2500km and it's already looking very tired, I'll flip it, but it'd be nice if they lasted a bit longer.. Last one did about the same before the teeth started looking very average. I blamed the chain that time, was a cheaper KMC one, but this time the chain was a brand new very heavy duty Wippermann E bike single speed one, (currently showing 0.5% wear) Chain ring was a brand newSurly SS too.

Perhaps you are running your chain too tight, which will wear sprockets quickly. There should always be a small amount of slack in the tightest position. Looking "tired" or "average" may not be a good indication of being worn out.

+1 Were there any symptoms they were really worn out such as chain skipping? Appearance is not a good indicator. Also, is your chainline good? Chain alignment is also a wear factor as is chain tension as noted above.

Appearance is a fairly good indicator of wear, when the teeth look noticeably non symmetrical after only 2500km, it suggests maybe the sprocket is pretty soft, especially for a single speed one. An indicator is that you can easily scratch the sprocket with a screwdriver. It's not completely worn out yet, probably because the chain is strong enough not to stretch with wear like the last one did. Yeah, could keep riding it until it's completely worn out and the chain is lunched as well. But I'd prefer to see if I can find a durable aftermarket sprocket long term, or maybe case harden a genuine one.
