Trek Super Commuter +8 Lights

Hi,
I am looking for others in the US with a Trek Super Commuter +8, I had my bike serviced and now the lights stay on all the time. The manual says you can turn them on and off by holding down the + key. Can anyone confirm this. The shop tells me that the US has the same requirements as the EU which has the light sensor and high beam switch. In short, can the lights be turned of on this bike, it is a 2017. Good to be back on the forum, had a bout with cancer and am fine now but got the bike serviced and am sure I could turn off the lights before they serviced it. Any input appreciated!
Cheers to all,
Old Elvis

I looked at this bike, and was told by several sources that the lights cannot be shut off. I think the information you read was spurious. I also read about them having walk mode, that is able to push themselves automatically when pressing a button to assist you in pushing th ebike - that has also been turned off but also shows up in documentation.

My walk mode works, Trek tells me that the light can be shut off and I may need a new purion head, both the trek manual and purion manual state the same way to turn it off. My dealer is running it up the chain as Trek customer service said it is defective and my dealer should submit a claim, I'll wait another couple of days and let the Trek and Bosch folks agree on what their products actually do
Thanks for your response!
Cheers,
Jon

It's an option in the Bosch diagnostic program. Older models cannot have their walk mode enabled, as it was disabled via hardware. New ones can.

Trek doesn't want their shops changing any of the bikes (Super Commuter, Verve, Crossrip) from 'Always On'. Oddly enough, they don't seem to care about the Townies.
