Kitted Salmon
Home bound from work the other day. Rode up to an intersection where I turn right. Was looking to the left for a break in traffic and was about to pull out when I saw a shape from my right. What the heck was that?

Which pro-cycling team is that "kit" from?

OK, there are times where I will briefly Salmon. I know my route, and there are situations where it is sooo convinient, but that guy appeared to be in full Salmon mode.

My hypothesis: a newly arrived Italian rider less-than-familiar with US rules of the road. Or a temporary artistic expression until he gets flattened, or pulled over.

Maybe he had come out from somewhere just a couple hundred feet to the right, and needed to turn left and go the other way from where you came from. So instead of trying to cross oncoming traffic twice to go a few feet, he just waited for a break and road down the wrong side to make the turn.
That assumes he turned left right where you were, or just after where you were. I confess I've done it myself a couple of times. I may or may not have been in bike kit.

This reminds me of an encounter I had last week. I pulled up to a red light, to the left of a right turning car as I always do, and stopped just short of the cross walk. Some guy on a hybrid comes off the sidewalk, from my right, and makes a comment like "Whoa! you better stop". I shouted back "Are you eight years old? Get off the sidewalk!"

This public service announcement is brought to all compliment of the powerhouse church of the presumptuous assumption.
