Yeah I know. The bars are these awful albatross wingspan wide ergo drop monsters and there really isn't a comfortable place to put the hoods. Not trying to put any money into it until I fall in love with it or lose all hope of selling it.

First the Serotta and then a Merckx. You guys are killing me.

There was a time when I would have killed for a Serotta Ottrott.

Dunno, time is a flat circle etc.

The Merckx though... yeah. My girlfriend is hemming and hawing over a wheelset for her soma fogcutter build because some coworkers dissed h+son. I think that bike will help build my case for archetypes.

The black ones with white letters are... #fixiebro loud. The grey/hard ano finish keeps the great strength and ride quality, but the more subtle appearance is welcome.

That said, for a disc brake bike, I'd probably try and find something tubeless ready. Just to make it easier on yourself. More options in the non-MSW market than traditional road rims.

Those are nice but not full price nice unfortunately, you'll probably like your belgiums more.

I have DA 9000 C24 wheels. At $733 from Merlin they are OK but as you said, not worth full retail.

1360 grams is light - they spin up fast and climb well, especially when paired with a nice light tire like the Vittoria Rubino Pro Speed G+.

They are flexy though, and I can make them rub the brakes if I try to corner really hard. That's not necessarily a bad thing and I keep my brakes adjusted close but I enjoyed my now retired Mavic Kysrium SL wheels much more. Just like a stiffer ride.

HED Ardennes Plus is where I would be if I could.

This exactly was my biggest jeer.
'Cept I was pushing the tire clearance of the frame and subsequently rubbed some paint off the inner chainstays.

I suppose this is the trade-off for weight weenieness

One of the best climbing set of wheels I've used though.

I got my set for $400 shipped (with skewers!) and I'm selling my belgiums to my coworker for $400, so I'm not losing anything in this trade other than a couple grams.

They're super comfortable wheels, but they are pretty flexy and it was kinda disconcerting the first time I went full gas to sprint.

Are you getting the older DA 9000 or the newer 9100?

$400 is a righteous price. Care to share a source?

9000 used off some guy on Facebook. Buy sell groups there are huge so occasional you find pretty good deals there. I got a 2015 super record shift group from that group for 600 shipped at one point.
