About 60.

Dropping down into SLO from the North on the 101 freeway. raffic lane, not shoulder so more speed was better. Not getting passed by cars was a good thing.

It really isn't that hard for me to hit the high 40s going downhill.

37mph on mountain bike with 1.5 slicks. 50-55mph on the road bike a bunch of times--usually I move into a driving lane a little if I am going the speed limit and not interfering. Less stuff to run over compared to riding on the shoulder. But given a smooth, steep, clear patch of pavement who knows. I like speed!

52 mph on a road bike. A 15% grade will produce that kind of speed in less than a mile.

This year to date 65kph on a mountain bike with oversized road tires. Now the issue is gearing, not stability and I'll be installing a larger chainring. The suspension and tires make the bike dead stable and 100kph+ should be a snap.
Please give more details on how you accomplished this. It must have been very steep.

If I recall correctly, it's 450 feet of elevation change in about 2.7 miles. Sitting upright on a mountain bike I was able to hit 27 mph before wussing out and braking. Getting aero on a road bike with thin tires, I've hit 45-52 mph multiple times. This place is about 6 miles from my house.
