Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We have carbon Sirruses that we both like. I swapped the Sora drivetrain for the 105 off my Domane. Wouldn’t drop the coin on Di2 for that bike though. Like the bike for shorter after work rides and gravel type roads.

People who have Teslas seem to really like them. I’m a fan of electric, but the Tesla build style just doesn’t tickle my pickle. Hope your spouse has fun with it!

You prolly wouldn’t like the Taycan I sold a couple months ago.

*****, I love the portability of a mini van. If the toyota sienna hybrid mini didn’t cost as much as a tundra I would get one of those.

Tesla wouldnt work where I live. You have to drive to everything, charging stations are non existent. My wife doesn’t fill her car up with gas, what are the chances she would plug a car in? I’m betting slim to zero.

Hmmm...Of the 5 people I know that drive a current Tesla, zero of them are in that demo. One used to be, but it was the original Tesla Roadster. He drives a current model now, but is in an older age bracket, and is well past having to prove himself. That said, this is anecdotal.

When we go out on the roads even for short errands we see at least 3 Tesla's and innumerable Mercedes-Benz badged vehicles. We slum around in Honda CRV's. They're good enough for us.

We'd like to keep our Sportwagen a couple more years. It's getting up there in miles, though - we crossed 150k on the VA trip - and the niggling repairs keep comin'. I'm trying to take on some of those repairs, though - paying $800 here, $500 there, $1k there, etc, etc gets to be hard to swallow, otherwise.

I keep hankering for a new car, but I want to play with the GX in the snow, and we drive so little here it seems absurd to have two cars as it is.

Started shopping for mud/snow tyres for the minivan, looks like about $650 installed. Was hoping for $500ish...

How many miles do y’all put on it in a year? I feel like 90 percent of your yearly mileage is just the drive to VA. I could be wrong.

Took the new bike out just now. Doesn’t feel like it’s made out of a tin can at all. Ride quality mirrors that of a plastic bike. The steering is super responsive. The most responsive bike to date. Don’t know exact weight of the build but it feels pretty light. New wheels, rotors cassette and crank will make it feel even lighter.

Working on it. Too hot in PHX. Might do the in-state snowbird thing if possible...

I used to be OK riding at 108° just a few years ago, but now I feel like anything above 95 in the sun is just a big nope for me.

Northern AZ doesn't count as snowbirding.

You're not too far wrong.

We've put on 50k since the start of the pandemic, probably 30 of that to/from VA.
