Sounds like fun; I'll be there!

I put a link to this ride in the 50+ bikeforums.net plus a note on my facebook page.

I'll try to get Art to put a notice about it on the OCRR website too.

I'm not familiar with the route, I'm driving up from San Diego to do it. I think it can be a rider's choice how far you go, I think the "advertised distance" is to the town of Mt. Baldy.

The basic ride is from Glendora to Mt. Baldy Village. From there the Ski Lifts ride is an optional extra, i.e. Bonus Climb!

Yup, most riders go the the village, like Rick Said, the lifts is a bonus for those advanced riders.

I'm hoping we get some GMR newbs out there too. Chances are if you're a decent rider, you should make it to the village. This was originally posted in the clyde forum but low amount of replies suggested that we invite others to make it a fun ride.

As we all know, just a few riders getting together so we accept no responibility for riders, actions, and equipment. Every rider must be self sufficient etc. and all the other legal stuff that I can't spell! Minimum water req is 2 large waterbottles.

If you are a GMR virgin and looking for a chance to ride with a few other GMR vet riders without the feeling of being alone, this is your chance to dig the GMR experience!

Yup, there is a restaurant (dam, can't ever remeber the spelling I always want to use restaraunt, just thought you'd like to know!) at the village but it opens late (11 am? somebody?) Plus a few water fountains. A small ski shop(? /sombody?) I rarely use the businesses. I pack G-ade powder and use the water fountains. Some riders eat then ride back. Me, I like to rest a few mintues then go. I have a hard time riding after a meal. With a group I'l hang awhile but legs stifen up. I just mighthave Gina drive me to the top of the hill on the return (leaving the village)!

Gina should be carrying water and maybe g-ade/ in the truck too. She drives up and down moniroting the riders.

Profile for GMR..BoulderSprings to the village.

As of now i don't have any business for Saturday. If it remains clear i will do the ride. I have had a horrible October as far a cycling is concerned. Only got in 4 rides including today. Feels like i am getting weaker and slower. Hope this shakes me out of my malaise. Maybe some grinding up in the mountains will help.

Beanz,

We both live within the area and thought I'd join too till you posted that GMR profile and felt like throwing up just looking at it.

But it will be a great opportunity to see other BF members within our sphere and will try to show up.

She's ALWAYS the last one up and I won't leave her alone on GMR. So if she were to ride, I wouldn't get any footage.

Nah! On forum rides, I ride up take pics, try to keep up with a faster guy for for a pic, then roll back down for riders behind (if any) for pics. Then I stop with Gina if she passes out water at a designated point. That puts you about 20 minutes ahead of me! I'll be one of the last to the village.

I really don't leave Gina on GMR even in the truck. I fix the flats on her bike, I won't expect her to fix one on the truck "if" it happens. I always make sure she gets rolling before I resume the ride. Hey, you never know!

BTW Herbie......again, not responsible for other riders and Gina in the truck is a courtesy not a requirement or to be taken as a promise to overlook or an obligation to help everybody. But if a rider struggles too much, he/she can always jump in the truck and be shuttled to the top of a tough section if needed and "if" Gina happens to feel like it!

If nobody sees it, did it really happen?

In the past we have passed out water even to those riders we don't know or weren't with the forum riders. But just incase a rider turns back on his own or is not accounted for (fell behind fixing flat etc), we aren't responsible to search for that rider although chances are they will be offered help. Just making sure all think of it as a courtesy and not to blame us if they aren't spotted in a time of need.....Gina does her best but like mentioned earlier, be prepared, self sufficient and bring a pump or similar. And we don't supply tubes.

Yup, one of the good guys! Everytime we have done a ride, eveyone has been prepared. But something strange always comes up sooner or later. One guy got mad at me cause I posted only one of his pictures instead of all 3 that I took on the trail!...strange stuff sometimes! If I don't mention "courtesy"it, someone will get mad cause Gina wasn't able to break their chain with her teeth!

Rode from my home in Downey to Sierra Madre and Gmr which is 30 miles, them up to the shack and back home. 79 miles round trip. I just went slower than i usually go, drank sooner and had no problems. I am 65, 190 pounds, and highest gear is 42/24. I just took breaks when i was tired. You could do it with better planning.

And why, oh why, the weekend of Nov 6th? I'll probably be out of town. Bummer. If not, I'm down.
