Thoughts on this Cannondale R-600 ?

Was curious as to what the thoughts are on this bike ? Is it really hand made ? If so , does that increase the value of the frame ? How do these components look ? Is $220 a fair price for this bike ? thanks, RB

The price probably isn’t a bad price if you can do all the work to overhaul it. Needs new tires maybe a chain and FW.

I like these a lot. Seems ok, though i don’t know if the post is original cause the seat sure isn’t... I’d probably go for no more than $200, and maybe 180 just on principle because the seller made it difficult as hell to see details with those ridiculously blown highlights in the photos!

(Oh, and because it’s going to also need black bartape, stat!)

Didn’t those originally come with a carbon fork (Slice)? I just rebuilt a 1995 R600 for my son-in-law, and they are very nice bikes - fast! I’m not so sure about the “handmade” aspect since these were production bikes. I think $200 would be the most I’d go without the carbon fork. Keep in mind you’ll likely need to sink a few more $$$ into it to get it where you want it.

Late 1980’s C-dale; I think the OEM fork is aluminum, but given the crown, that appears to be a steel fork. Ask the seller to explain the fork replacement to you. If it has been crashed, pass.

You use a ruler. A pin center should fall on 1” and 12”, I think it’s beenn a while. If it is “stretched” it needs replaced. If it is really stretched and left on the bike too long it can excessively wear the Freewheel cigs and chainrings.

what kind of damage could a crash that ruins the forks do to a bike ? funny I'm asking this as I just crashed yesterday...Hit a pothole and went over the handlebars, but everything is straight (the bike and me, lol)

The price isn't bad if you can do your own work but I don't like buying bikes with replacement forks. There are a lot of vintage fish out there in the sea.
