For those of you who have been following this thread, work has kind of kept me from doing much. It is approaching completion as the drive train is complete and shifting nicely. I mentioned in a previous post that the jockey wheels were worn. They have proven to not be overly worn and do not make a racket like the worn wheels on my other Record derailleur. A fly in the ointment is (are) the two flat spots on the rear wheel which is forcing a decision on me. Transfer hub and spokes into a period correct Super Champion rim or leave as is and use that wheel only for display. The wheels are tied but not very well soldered. And it's not like I don't have wheels I can use on it. Wheels in the photos are period correct.

Comments?

How big are the flat spots? Big enough to ruin a ride?

Re: French Ribbed Cable Housing

Not sure if you've found this already but searching "White Brake Cable Housing Vintage 60's -80's Style French or Italian style" or "White Ribbed Brake Cable Outer Housing Vintage Style French" or "Vintage Style Ribbed Brake Outer Cable" on the popular auction site will provide UK sources with reasonable shipping costs. The last search result should offer a colour selection (Grey and black in addition to white).

They are modern construction with a vintage appearance.

..or search the same auction site on this: "RARE 50’s,60’s RACING BIKE RED RIBBED RACER BIKE CABLE SET TAILOR MADE TO ORDER", ending in the next day or so. I've had good dealings with this seller.

Alternately, a search on "Clark Cable Set Checked Housing Vintage Bike Wire Light Blue LAST ONE 50's NOS" might meet your requirements.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for the welcome the project is currently stripped down to the frame i'll take some pics of frame and kit spec.
currently looking through loads of old photos to see if i can find a pic from back in the day, i'll keep you all updated.
the lack of frame number confirms my suspicions.

regards
Dave

Thanks for all the suggestions on cable. I had ordered what I needed some time back.

AFA the rim. I have a suitable Super Champion already tie wrapped to the old rim. Just not thrilled about having to do it.

Unveiling today. Plan to go for a ride after this is posted. Rear wheel got the "new" rim swapped on with minimal fuss. Newbaum's tape. I do have some TriColore bar ends coming for it. My Pelforth Sauvage Lejeune jersey is perfect for this.

There is some rust on it. I put a WTB out on another forum and actually got two at a steal of a deal. The second one needs some TLC before use.
