Spoke Spinners "Reflectors"

To leave on / or take off... Any opinions. I left them on my Trek road bike, but have removed them from my Raleigh MB.

I mostly commute, so I choose visibility, especially at night or in low light situations. But you can do what you want depending on how you ride.

kind of personal choice. They are pretty effective. If you never ride after dark they are probably not needed.

You can buy reflective tape just for spokes. Surprisingly effective and almost zero weight

personally I like stringing powered lights in the wheels.

My choice is visibility over style. My wheels have two or three reflectors, depending upon spoke lacing.

When riding at night I add these spoke lights to each wheel.

I had hard plastic ones on my rear wheel but they kept the wheel out of true so i removed them.

I don't actively take them off when I get a bike, but I find they generally fall off or break within a few weeks of use. They are not generally well-made or up to heavy use.

I use reflective tape on the spokes instead, and immediately remove the plastic wheel reflectors. It looks like this.

You can get a lot more of the same grade tape here. Minimum order is $20 + S&H fees.

good source, I need more tape and that looks good.

But the ones in my previous link are cut to the perfect size for spokes, worth the extra few cents to save headache. Quick and easy to install.

I am tempted to add more reflectors to my spokes. Maybe enough to make a complete circle.

I usually leave them alone unless they fall off, or get in the way for something like truing the wheel (and they inevitably break when removing them).

I usually take them off and put stealth reflective tape on half of the rim to maintain the oscillating effect, which seems to do a better job at catching my eye while I'm driving at night. YMMV

Since I have a black bike with black wheels, I use the black tape option, but this brand has other color options to chose from.
